As October begins, the feels start to sink in. Junior year has officially taken place, and every worry you have never thought of has now started creeping into your brain. The real world is only two years away, but you start weighing the pros and cons if you're ready to take the next step to professionalism or keep on having fun. Of course, you want to be successful and finish undergrad with flying colors, but these are supposed to be the best years of your life, so why not go out and be the best rager you can be? And of course, you love being a business major, but maybe you were supposed to reach your highest potential as a cardio-thoracic surgeon like Cristina Yang and now wonder if you should have gone Premed all along. If you have contemplated this question then congratulations! You have entered the College Life Crisis.
Here are some of the daily great College Life Crisis debates:
1. You don't want to be the party pooper
Of course, I should study for my class which comprises of math, science, and poetry all in one but it's also Dollar Marg Mondays and you can never make the same mistake twenty times in a row, right? Plus, I'm being financially responsible AND social at the same time.
vs. I need to raise my GPA to a 4.0 in less than two years
But I did slack in all my easy classes, and now I have to focus. I can totally outline this 3000 page book by the end of the day and start on my four papers due tomorrow morning. Then again, there's about a thousand things going on in my life that I could do instead of studying as well.
2. Wishing you chose a "better" major
Maybe philosophy wasn't the best choice and maybe I'm supposed to be living to my highest potential by doing open-heart surgery like Cristina Yang. Plus I totally look good in scrubs AND I have a picture from a Grey's Anatomy Waltz to prove it.
vs. wishing you chose an "easier" major
The LSATs will forever be the bane of my existence. Enough said.
3. I should be single vs I need to be engaged ASAP
Because college is only four years, therefore the only way to live out those years is to be single and have fun, but also my G-Big is engaged and I don't want to die forever alone.
4. Applying for Internships
This would look great on my resume, and I've always wanted to work for this company. Plus, it gives me a great excuse to buy cute outfits. But seriously, hire me, please?
vs. Making your last year of summer plans as an undergrad
Cozumel? Bahamas? Skydiving in Switzerland? Taking a cruise to a foregin place that I can't pronounce? Backpacking from Rome to Amersterdam? Sign me up, please!
