Social media is something we all have perfectly arranged on our home screens to get us through the day. These technological forms of networking and inter-connectivity each hold a different purpose to gauge our attention spans and fill our constant breaks of boredom, much like a friend. Like a friend, a bestie, a BFF, social media apps can make us laugh, think, cry and care. If social media apps represented your friends, who would they be?
Instagram:
Instagram is that friend that always wanted to be famous. They are constantly looking for attention and yearn to be liked by everyone. Instagram was your first friend to start wearing makeup right after elementary school graduation and the first to wear a Bombshell Push-up bra because they insisted it "filled their shirt out better." Instagram might be the one that always wants to look older than they are and seem more experienced, but you can't live without a friend like Instagram. You need Instagram for fashion advice and when you need an encouraging pep-talk to grasp the confidence to talk to your crush. Although they might always be flirting with your older brother, you love Instagram and all of Instagram's princess-like qualities.
Snapchat:
Whenever you need a good laugh or a quick pick-me-up, you always look to Snapchat. Snapchat is that friend that is liked by everyone due to their outrageous and funny personality. When life seems dull, Snapchat has the ability to put an ear-to-ear grin on your face in a matter of seconds. This friend doesn’t care what others might think of them; and it is Snapchat that reminds you to stay true to yourself and not be afraid to show off your quirky, unique personality. Snapchat doesn’t take life too seriously and reminds you to live life in the moment.
Facebook:
This is the friend that has this dire need to constantly share their opinion — and boy, do they have one on everything. They’ll be the first to bring up a political discussion, even when no one is in the mood for one. Give Facebook a couple of drinks and an audience and they will go on for hours about the latest topic they read an article on, apparently now making them an expert in. They don't care if anyone likes or agrees with them, because they think they're always right. Although they can be overbearing, Facebook is one of your oldest friends that you’ll love no matter what.
Twitter:
Twitter is the most annoying friend you have, and it's okay if someone particular just popped up in your head. Twitter doesn't really have their own identity and needs to feed off of others around them. This is the friend that will take a joke Snapchat just made a little too far, or tries to start an argument with Facebook on a topic they know nothing about. They get under your skin and sometimes you can't even stand the sound of their voice. You know they don't mean harm, but this doesn't stop you from wanting a Twitterless night every now-and-then.
Pinterest:
Pinterest is your friend who is always thinking about life far down in the future. They already have every detail about their wedding decided, what town they'll living in, what their house will look like and its decor, how many children they'll have and their names, and what their spouse will do as a living. Pinterest may be a wound up, Betty Crocker, Martha Stewart type, but they are essential to your friend group. Pinterest is the planner. They plan all your friends' events and work out every small detail to make sure everything is figured out so you and the rest of your irresponsible group of friends don't have to.
