To The Class Of 2017, At The Beginning Of 2017

Whether I like it or not, 2017 is going to be a year full of change for myself and my fellow Belles. In May, we'll be leaving the place we have called home for four years. I'll be moving (destination tbd) and so will many of my fellow Belles. I'll be starting at a new school or a new job (also tbd). With all of the changes coming in 2017, it's easy to be overwhelmed and frankly terrified, yet it may just be the best year yet.

If I have learned anything at Saint Mary's it's that I'm capable of doing much more than I ever thought possible. Things that would have seemed unimaginable to me, like having my writing printed on the internet each week, have become a reality for me. When I look at all of the upcoming changes and adventures that 2017 is going to bring myself and my fellow classmates, I'm excited. I know I am capable of doing whatever I put my mind to. I know that if I fail; my family, friends, and Belles will always be there to support me.

What seemed so far away when I received my Class of 2017 shirt from Saint Mary's four years ago, is rapidly approaching. I could have never imagined that these four years would have flown by so quickly. At the start of this new year, I am excited for my last spring semester. Although, it will be a semester of "lasts," I know it will make me appreciate Saint Mary's even more than I already do.

Besides, I know that if we can make it through a year where I lost a favorite animal in Harambe, the Chicago Cubs won a World Series, and Donald Trump was elected President, then the Belles can basically survive anything 2017 is going to throw our way.

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?
