Why You Should Visit The Beautiful City Of London

According to Vivienne Westwood, "There is nowhere else like London. Nothing at all, anywhere." It may rain a lot and the weather might not be a major attraction; however, the life, culture, and diversity of such an iconic city is breathtaking. There is so much to do and see, from eating in some of the world’s finest restaurants to riding a Boris bike in the beautiful Hyde Park, it is impossible to be bored in the most populous city in the United Kingdom. With all these attraction comes the famous London Underground (or “tube” as the Brits call it), which celebrated its 150th birthday in 2013. It is the third largest metro system in the world. The city thrives with its multicultural routes. From the very dense urban centre, to the retro streets London is full of things to do. I may be bias coming from this amazing city but I really must say that the atmosphere and energy that London emits is truly staggering. According to CNN, ‘’London is the most popular city on the planet.”

Without a doubt, the real magic of London is in her tourist attractions. There is Buckingham Palace, where our queen lives, protected by the highly trained, red-dressed Queen’s Guard. Closer to the riverbank is The Tower of London, a medieval castle, once home to past kings and queens of England, houses the crown jewels that are exhibited once a year. The gothic Westminster Abbey which is a gothic church and celebrated St. Paul's Cathedral are very beautiful and just adds to London's ancient history. The River Thames is extremely famous and runs through central London. At night-time it is beautiful, as light bounces off the water, and is overlooked by the London eye, Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament, at the heart of London.

London has some of the best museums in the world. My favourite would be the National History Museum, because you can learn all about the World Wars and the history of the world. The art galleries are also fascinating, the Tate Modern which houses some of the best contemporary art in the world, The National Gallery where you can find Georges Seurat’s acclaimed Bathers at Asnières and the Victoria and Albert Museum, named after the late Queen Victoria and her husband Prince Albert. Somerset House holds seasonal events involving art and fashion, and is the home of London fashion week, held twice a year. As Samuel Johnson said "Sir, when a man is tired of London, he is tired of life; for there is in London all that life can afford."

If you are interested in sports, then London contains some of the biggest soccer, cricket, and tennis clubs in the world. Wembley Stadium is one of the biggest stadiums in Europe and hosts some of the biggest soccer matches and finals. They also hosted an American football game last year had attendance of 85,000 people. There is also the Wimbledon Championships and Lords cricket ground.

Visiting London is a once in a lifetime opportunity. With unique British sayings such as "cheerio," "chuffed," "Bob's your uncle," why would you not want to experience this first hand in the City of London. It is a very welcoming city with things for every age, gender and personality so why not cross the pond and visit the most outstanding, magical and phenomenal city that is London.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Everybody gets sick once in a while, but getting sick while in college is the absolute worst. You're away from home and your mom who can take care of you and all you really want to do is just be in your own bed. Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
