What Christmas Means to a College Student

The Christmas Countdown Part 2:
The Hacker News

For most college students Christmas Break is the most wonderful time of the year, after barely surviving the hellish week of finals being able to come home to a house decorated with Christmas cheer is so comforting. We get to avoid adulting for a limited time and solely enjoy sitting around re-watching various Classic Christmas movies, I know when I get home I am going to be watching White Christmas constantly. That is one if not my favorite Christmas movie, I don't know if it has to do with Bing Crosby or maybe it's an old timey film that soothes my old soul; whatever it is I cannot wait. I look forward to driving around with my family looking at the various Christmas lights in town and going last minute Christmas shopping with my mom, doing these kind of activities I think make a college student remember why we come home for a few weeks. In college there can be time when you get lonely during the semester and coming home for a while or just doing things that are not about school put us in a great mood, usually my mom might argue differently but that is different discussion. Any college student will tell you that we enjoy coming home for while and being in our old routine, it's comforting especially during the holidays if you aren't dating someone.

Another perk to Christmas for college students is getting gifts that will help us survive to next semester, cause you know college students have no money. This is the time family can us gifts that will defiantly help out like gift cards, yes it may not seem super personal or impactful but when we have no money or are waiting for our paychecks to come through they are like heaven's gifts. Last year my grandmother gave me a few as a stocking stuffer and it was one of the best things ever, they were restaurants I loved and totally helped when ever I did go out with friends and didn't feel like using my debit card. Now I am sure you are wondering to get a college kid for Christmas, just give a few gifs cards for various places cause never doubt the need of them when it comes to us broke college students.

To college students Christmas is a needed vacation from a stressful semester, yet I am pretty sure parents will argue what really is stressful but regardless we love coming home to our families.

So while we approach the greatest time of the year, let's watch the 15 best Christmas movies of all time.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

Being pre-med is quite a journey. It’s not easy juggling school work, extracurricular activities, volunteering, shadowing, research, and MCAT prep all at the same time. High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.
