Holiday time is here, and that can only mean one thing: food. If you're anything like me, you will most likely eat your body weight in dessert, because nothing screams Christmas like a good cookie. Here is a ranking, from worst to best, of cookies you may encounter this holiday season.
10. Oatmeal Raisin
Let's be honest, everyone hates raisins. They're literally old, dried up grapes. Whoever decided to throw raisins in a perfectly good cookie is definitely out to sabotage the reputation of cookies everywhere. The only positive thing about the Oatmeal Raisin cookie is that they can reduce your cholesterol --but it's not like anyone cares about their health during the holidays.
9. Chocolate Chip Macadamia Nut
The Chocolate Chip Cookie is the OG cookie. It's everyone's go to for the holidays. Sadly, however, people have been out to change the recipe of these classic cookies. Why mess with something that is already perfected? I'm sorry, but nuts do NOT belong in a chocolate chip cookie. Not only does it ruin the simple, delicate taste of the cookie, but it is also a hazard to people with nut allergies. Do you really want little Johnny to be rushed to the hospital on Christmas day because he ate one of your stupid nut-filled cookies?
8. Thumbprint Cookies
I'm assuming most of you don't even know what the Thumbprint Cookie is, which is exactly why they are towards the bottom of the list. I'm not quite sure who thought of putting jelly in the center of a cookie, but whoever it is needs to rethink their life.
7. Italian Wedding Cake (Snowballs)
Among the many amazing foods that the Italians have blessed us with, Italian Wedding Cake Cookies are not one of their best creations. Don't get me wrong, it's not the taste of these cookies that I'm complaining about, it's the mess. These powdered sugar-covered cookies are so messy that eating them is just too much of a hassle.
6. Sugar Cookies
Sugar cookies are also another classic. However, they're just getting a little old. There's nothing surprising about them. They're the type of cookie that you don't really crave but if they're sitting in front of you you still eat five.
5. Snickerdoodles
Snickerdoodles are like spunky sugar cookies. Someone realized how boring sugar cookies were and they decided to throw some cinnamon on those bad boys. If you don't want your family holiday party to be bland, think about spicing up your dessert table with snickerdoodles instead of setting out some lame sugar cookies.
4. Gingerbread
Gingerbread cookies are in the middle of the list because you either love them or hate them. Despite your opinion on the taste of molasses, one thing is clear: Gingerbread cookies are festive as heck. I would definitely recommend laying out some Gingerbread men to impress all those super-spirited holiday goers this Christmas.
3. Peanut Butter Kisses
Peanut butter and chocolate go together like salt and pepper--they're a great combination. I have yet to run into someone who doesn't like these cookies (besides people who are allergic to peanuts, of course). If you put these cookies out at your holiday party I guarantee they'll be gone in seconds.
2. Christmas Wreaths
If you want to wow your friends and family with the ultra holiday cookie, the Christmas Wreath Cookie is the cookie for you. Their cheerful Christmas aesthetic will make even the grinchiest of people feel the joy of the holidays. Plus, they taste amazing!
1. Chocolate Chip
At the end of the day, simpler is better. The Chocolate Chip Cookie is, and probably always will be, one of the best cookies known to man. Always make extra chocolate chip cookies, because everyone will want one (or ten).
