The Christmas Break Obsession: Hallmark Christmas Movies

I can't stop watching!

As a college student on break, I have spent many hours watching television. What I have noticed is that I have spent the majority of those hours watching Hallmark Christmas movies.

These movies are truly a guilty pleasure. I never thought that I would ever enjoy watching the cliche couple get back together or all of the different snowball fights or ice skating dates. But there is just something about watching the Christmas movies being played all day and night that excite me.

Hallmark Christmas movies are super cliche. Every single movie has the same situations, such as the couple who ends up getting back together after being away from each other for years or the couple that hates each other at the beginning of the movie and ends up falling in love.

They also always have a scene with ice skating or a snowball fight. You can predict the ending of each movie within the first ten minutes of watching, but somehow you end up still watching the whole movie.

I have probably watched over ten of these Hallmark movies since I have been home over break, and although I never thought that I would ever get into these movies, I am so glad that I did. I know that I will be looking forward to all of these movies by the time next Christmas rolls around.

I am thinking that I am not the only person who feels this way about these movies, and it's so cool that people get to sit down and watch all of these great movies before the Christmas holidays with their loved ones.

Although these movies are super cliche and predictable, they are truly my guilty pleasure over this holiday break. I am thankful that these movies are constantly playing to get me excited for Christmas and to keep me occupied over this long winter break!

Happy Holidays!

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
