The telephone rings.
"The phone is ringing, should we answer?"
"No, let him suffer."
"Sir, it seems he's in trouble!"
"This does not matter. If he is strong, his ambitions will not falter."
"He is pleading, sir. I can hear exactly what he looks like right now. His head is bowed, my Lord. He is kneeling, begging crying for forgiveness! Please show him the truth that the light gives!"
"It does not matter. If he has faith, he will not falter!"
"My Lord, you are being unreasonable! He is your subject, your devoted! He shouted your name when others said nay, and the man is as poor as the dirt the cattle feast upon, but never did he ask for a single coin. Many of his calls went unanswered, yet he still breathes life into his beliefs that one day you may shed some worth upon his own name."
"It does not matter. I am He who watched the heavens, I am He who judges the damned. I am the thunder that roars with lightning, the heat that plays with light. I am the prayers that come with rain and the one who saves from plight. All who do not know this will shiver upon my might. Both sinners and worshipers fear me equally. No matter how long the call goes unanswered, his will shall not falter."
"My Lord, it has already been done. His will has been shattered, his faith has been broken, the man shouted your name to the heavens has now become unspoken. His ambitions is as poor as his pockets, you left the man with no options, he claims you are a false god, maybe we should have answered his call. We have ignored it one too many times. He was as loyal as a dog to its master, he defended you as if he was a patriot defending his homeland, he did not deserve the unjust treatment. His wishes came unfulfilling. The pain that ached in his heart as he watched countless shooting stars pass, each one far from his grasp as you were, he gave up… he lost his hope… he's no longer kneeling with his head bowed. He's laying, crying, a shadow of his former self, you have broken his will. Is this the kind of teaching that we are trying to instill, my Lord?"
"It does not matter, he only believed until his call went unanswered."
