10 Tips To A Healthier Lifestyle, From A Busy Girl

I agree, there should be 27 hours in the day.

I am a busy gal and eating super healthy isn't always accessible to me. That being said, losing weight is difficult when you can't hit the gym every day or steam veggies. I have picked up a few tips to make my day healthier when I am on the go all day.

1. Park far away

My day is generally filled with running errands. I like to park far away from the store so I can get some extra walking in. It's such an easy way to burn a few extra calories.

2. Grilled instead of fried

Yes fried is better tasting, but grilled can be good! Chick-fil-A grilled nuggets are so good and easy to grab on the go. If you don't like the taste, start with ketchup. You don't have to give up everything you love. Your thighs will thank you later for this change in your diet.

3. Eat 5 small meals instead of 3 big meals

Chose healthier and smaller portions than shown above, but they have the right idea. Eating little meals all day keeps your metabolism going and keep you full throughout the day.

4. Stairs instead of the elevator

You can do it. Work those leg muscles. Opt for the stairs when you really want to take the elevator. Get those booty gains!

5. Wear workout clothes to run errands

Workout clothes are trendy and comfortable, so this tip is easy. Instead of throwing on a huge t-shirt (guilty) opt for a workout tank and shorts. When you feel cute and sporty you are more likely to workout. Even if your movement for the day is holding your cat, it's better than doing nothing at all.

6. Fruit instead of fries/chips

Yes, it kinda sucks, but it's worth it. Trust me.

7. Drink a gallon of water

You don't have to carry around a water jug like a meat head, but do keep track of how much you drink. The app "Plant Nanny" is a fun way to make sure you drink enough water a day. Drinking a gallon of water will flush out gunk your body is holding in.

8. Chew ice when you're "bored hungry"

My biggest problem is eating when I'm bored. I think I am hungry because there is nothing else to do. To solve this I get a big cup of ice and eat it. Chewing ice is actually really satisfying and tells my stomach to chill with the false alarms. Get it. Chill. Ha.

9. Eat slower and smaller

Eating slower lets your body know when you are actually full. You don't want to overeat and get that bloated feeling. Like I said above, eat smaller portions throughout the day and cut back on eating a lot of unhealthy things. It is all about portion control.

10. Don't stress about it

You got this. You will mess up and it will suck at first to give up things here and there. Start small and you will make your way to healthy queen status. Stay positive and you can do anything!

In case you're unaware, "resting bitch face" is the term used to describe when a person's natural, expressionless face makes it look like they are mad at the world. Whether they are walking down the street or simply spacing out thinking about what to eat for dinner, it's very easy for others to assume that this person is either upset or mad at them. Because of this, those of us with Resting Bitch Face (RBF), and especially us women, have all experienced many of the same situations and conversations, including:

We've all had a crush before. Whether it leads to something or nothing, the process has all been the same. The awkward feelings, the stalking, and the stress of trying to keep this huge secret. The feeling of becoming a total spazz is something that cannot be avoided, and the most spazzy family that can relate to this feeling is the Belcher's.

At the tender age of 18, we are bestowed with the title of “adult.” For 17 years, we live under the rules and guidelines of our parents, school, and government, and to stray from any of those rules or guidelines marks us as a rebel. At 18, though, we must choose which college we want to go to or what career we want. We are allowed and encouraged to vote. We can buy lottery tickets and cigarettes. We can drop out of school, leave our household, and do other "adult" things. At 18, we start down a path of thinking for ourselves, when for the entirety of our lives other institutions have been mandated to think and do for us.

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.
