If The Buildings At Brandeis Were Your Family Members

What would happen if your family members turned into the Brandeis buildings?

Brandeis University

If you are a Brandeisian, you have spent more than your fair share of time with each of these buildings. They become like a second family, protecting, annoying, and getting you through your day. Although you have a love-hate relationship with most, at the end of the day, they make you feel at home. What would happen if your actual family members turned into the Brandeis buildings? Here's what we imagine would happen:

The SCC: Mom

She is always open; no matter what, she is there for you. And she has pretty much everything you need for survival.

Usdan: Dad

You probably do not spend as much time with him as your mom, but definitely still has enough essentials for everyday life. He gives you food and plays games with you, but also deals with boring things like picking up the mail.

Sherman (and the Stein): Grandma

Although she recently got a new makeover, Grandma still feels more “homey” than some of your other relatives. She also always makes sure you are fed, even at two in the morning.

Castle: Grandpa

He is probably the oldest one in the family, and although he gets unsafely sick sometimes (and needs a hip replacement soon), he still has stories to tell.

Rosie: Your Stoner Cousin

Yes, she is in college but how much does she study? Rosie knows how to have a good time and in between the beer pong and smoke breaks, she occasionally cracks open a book.

SSC: The "Smart" Sibling

He or she is always studying, leaving no time for a social life. This sibling is a bit nerdy at times and will never miss a chance to show off his or her intelligence, but will always help you with science homework if you need it.

Library: Your Older Sibling

Although you sometimes fight and hate each other because you spend too much time together, your sibling is always there for you when you need him or her most.

The Village: The Study Abroad Student Living With Your Family

Maybe he or she comes in halfway through the year, maybe said person leaves and come back. Either way, they are a part of the family.

Spingold Theater (and Goldman-Schwartz Fine Arts Studios): Kinda-crazy-but-creative Older Aunt

She has always been a little ‘off’, but whether she is splattering paint or building a multi-medium piece, her free-spirited creativity is unparalleled. You enjoy hanging out with her because her dramatic portrayals of her life make you smile.

Mods: The Much Older Sibling

Maybe your parents had him or her very young and decided to wait for the rest. Either way, he or she is done with “family life” and wants to move out.

Massell and North Quads: Your Annoying Twin Younger Siblings

They are always fighting for attention and trying to out-do each other. Seriously, you are basically the same: accept it.

Rabb Steps: Your Annoying Younger Brother

Your parents make you drive him to school everyday. Luckily, at the end of the day when you have to pick him up, you are not in your tired morning mood anymore and he is not quite as much of a pain.

IBS: Professional Uncle

Your smart uncle who you never really see because he is always working. As far as you know, he may not even exist—the only people in your family who seem to know him are the adults.

Mandel Quad: The Creative Sister

She is way more fun to be around than your annoying brother (Rabb Steps). After you drop your brother off at school every morning, you get to spend quality time with her. She is super smart, gifted in the humanities and always existentially thinking about the "big questions" in life.

Gosman: Really Fit Uncle

That really fit uncle of yours. You would not expect someone of his age to be so fit, but he can somehow kick your ass in every athletic activity you try.

Great Lawn: Your Cat

Nice, quiet, and relaxed most of the time, your cat is what you look forward to coming home to after a long day of school. He or she encourages you to lay in the sun on a nice day.

Chapel’s Field: Your Dog

Super fun, energetic, and unafraid to get muddy. You always look forward to seeing him because he is the life of every event.

Ridgewood: The Impressive Cousin

That cousin who you do not know that well, but you always see at family get-togethers. He or she is extremely put together, has amazing fashion sense and always has life together. He or she gets all the attention at those family get-togethers, which makes you more than a bit jealous.

We spend more time with certain family members and less with others, but at the end of the day, each one fills an important part of the Brandeis community.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"

While this question trend can get annoying, there are a couple of pros to having RBF.
