You tell me
That beauty is more than skin deep,
But then criticize me for not dressing
“To my full potential.”
You tell me
You will never let me go,
As each day passes and I don’t hear a
Word from you.
You tell me
I can be whoever I want,
As you instruct me to only do what
I am good at.
You tell me
The world is a good place
Just as you start criticizing everyone in it.
It’s easy to stand back,
Instructing and dictating how everyone
Else should be living their lives,
when you barely live outside of
Your bubble.
I will tell you
That I no longer need you
Telling me what is right and what is wrong,
Who I am or who I want to be,
And what this world is or is not.
My new world will exist
Outside your bubble,
Where it will flourish
Without your negativity and hate.
So,
Let me tell you about the real world,
It’s a lot larger than that little
Bubble of yours.
