"The book was better."
Every bookworm gets a little excited to see their favorite book come to life on the big screen but there is also nearly always a little apprehension. Movie-makers sometimes have to leave details out because of time restraints or they didn't actually read the book or something that impacts the movie in a way that just leaves you empty and disappointed.
Here are a few reasons why the book is just always better.
1. The characters always look right.
Your imagination is a wonderful thing. On the big screen, sometimes the actors just don't look how you imagined the character or they got the hair color wrong. In your head, it's always right.
2. Books last longer than two hours (usually).
A book can keep you entertained for hours if you don't have anything else to do and days or weeks if you actually have a life.
3. You actually know all the details and backstories.
With Harry Potter, J.K. Rowling actually told them what they could and could not leave out of the movie. Not all series are so lucky to have the author heavily involved. So much to show with so little time to do it.
4. Books say it better.
Somehow the lines in a book stick with you more than a quote from a movie will. Printed words just make more of an impact than spoken words.
So to all the beloved authors and writers who never thought they'd get up off the ground, thank you for capturing our attention, vocabularies, and imaginations before movies were even a glimmer in our minds.
