WARNING: These photos show rare moments of women accepting, embracing and making statements from their menstrual blood. DO NOT try these acts at home for they are unacceptable.
Do you remember these bloody acts of feminism? Were these acts of feminism taken way too far? Is this what society needed to see to realize we are far too sensitive about the natural characteristic of being a woman? These women used their menstrual blood to make a red statement.
1. The Period Piece.
Artist, Lani Beloso, Hawaii, US, used a year to create a full collection of artwork from her monthly cycle. She literally let her creativity flow guide her.
"I am trying to make something beautiful and utilitarian out of something that which in the past has only been a painful useless burden." - Lani Beloso
2. Instagram is not a place for breastfeeding babies or menstruation pictures. Ladies, we only want to see your bare bum in a Calvin Klein thong, thank you.
Poetess, Rupi Kaur, Toronto, Canada, accidentally had her photo deleted by Instagram twice. Instagram was trying to save society from a natural spillage. They ended up apologizing and gaining Kuar's photo more attention. Job well done Instagram.
3. UK Tampon Tax.
Charlie and Ruth, London, UK, took to the streets of London to protest the luxury tax on sanitary products. These two women wanted the world to understand the importance of having sanitary products accessed at lower costs. Honestly, how luxurious is it? Please, someone explain this to me.
4. The Bloody Marathon.
Kiran Ghandi, London, UK, ran a 26 mile race with pride and motivation from her period. I commend you Kiran, because I can't even walk two feet without wishing my uterus was battery operated, and could be simply turned off at that time of the month.
5. We all bleed red Trump, whether it's flowing from our vaginas, or its coming from a paper cut.
Women can be of use. All proceeds were donated to a group of immigrants.
"That he thinks he can bring up the healthy functioning of women's reproductive systems to insult women's intelligence is a big problem that I think needs to be called out," Levy told Buzzfeed News.
6. No blood in the Temple!
How can the cycle of reproduction not be considered sacred enough for this temple? Board President Prayar Gopalakrishnan thought otherwise, and agrees that women should be banned from the famous temple, in India, during their time of menstruation.
From India to Oregon, thank you ladies for having period pride. You have reminded me that I shouldn't be ashamed enough that I create a 'hidden tampon' tactic to walk to the bathroom during class.
