The Biggest Distractions: College Student Edition

Those pesky things that never fail to distract you from your to do list.

I am the Queen of Procrastination and constantly put things off until the absolute last minute. However, when I actually make the attempt to get things done, I find myself distracted by everything. Here is a list of some of the things that distract me the most (and I wouldn't be surprised if they distracted you too).

1. Social Media

Because I just need to check it one more time even though I am on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and Snapchat several times a day. I definitely need to check it once again because something major has happened in the last two seconds.

2. Books

They sit above my desk and are begging to be read. I'm an English major and love to read by default, so it never fails that I get the urge to read when I can't read and have other things to do.

3. The TV show I just finished

I finished all 6 seasons of Once Upon A Time in a week. Now I have nothing else to do but imagine what the characters would be doing and swooning over Killian Jones when I should be writing a paper or doing something else productive.

4. Music

Ah, the source of all my crazy thoughts. Music is my source of inspiration a lot of the time so I can't listen to music and be productive at the same time My mind just wanders to scenarios I could be putting into the book I am currently writing, so there's no escape!

5. YouTube

A never ending funnel of distraction. Oh, Zoella uploaded a video? Well now I have to watch it immediately. Someone just posted a review of my favorite book? Well I guess this assignment can wait a few more minutes. The cycle never ends.

6. Talking with friends

Every time someones contacts me, I immediately respond. And if my roommate walks into the room we always end up talking. People can be just as distracting as the internet (probably a really refreshing thing to hear, huh?)

7. The novel I'm writing

Seriously. I always get inspired when I should be working on something else. And if I happen to be listening to music it just makes the whole thing worse. Now I want to write about my favorite characters and not my biology project.

8. Thinking about all the things I need to do

Yep, this is always a fun one. Instead of working on taking something off my to-do list, I'm thinking about all the things I need to do because that makes so much sense.

9. Online shopping

Cute sweaters, boots, and graphic tees are my weakness. Especially with Christmas coming up, I can justify searching for things to put on a wish list. However, this does not help me in the procrastination department.

10. Food

I know, this is kind of a weird one, but I can't eat and be productive at the same time. I want to watch a YouTube video or something on Netflix while I eat but if I do that it is unlikely that I'll return to the to-do list in the foreseeable future.

If I have learned one thing in my lifetime, it is that friends are a privilege. No one is required to give you their company and yet there is some sort of shared connection that keeps you together. And from that friendship, you may even find yourself lucky enough to have a few more friends, thus forming a group. Here are just a few signs that prove your current friend group is the ultimate friend group.

When it comes to television, there’s very few sets of on-screen siblings that a lot of us can relate to. Only those who have grown up with siblings knows what it feels like to fight, prank, and love a sibling. Ross and Monica Geller were definitely overbearing and overshared some things through the series of "Friends," but they captured perfectly what real siblings feel in real life. Some of their antics were funny, some were a little weird but all of them are completely relatable to brothers and sisters everywhere.

College is a great place to meet people, especially through Greek life. If you look closely at sororities, you'll quickly see there are many different types of girls you will meet.

1. The Legacy.

Her sister was a member, her mom was a member, all of her aunts were members, and her grandma was a member. She has been waiting her whole life to wear these letters and cried hysterically on bid day. Although she can act entitled at times, you can bet she is one of the most enthusiastic sisters.

Every kid in college and/or high school dreams of summer the moment they walk through the door on the first day back in September. It becomes harder and harder to focus in classes and while doing assignments as the days get closer. The winter has been lagging, the days are short and dark, and no one is quite themselves due to lack of energy and sunlight. Let's face it: life is ten times better in the summertime.
