The Big 3: Unsigned Hip Hop Artists to Watch for September 2016

This segment highlights unsigned artists from around the country. Some might already have radio hits and others might still be in their raw beginning stages but all have caught my eye and have great potential.

  1. Young M.A

Hailing from Brooklyn, Young M.A has come to fame over the last year after releasing her hit song ‘OOOUUU’. She is one of the leading unsigned New York rappers and her gritty/street style and sound represents her home well. I predict the Young M.A will not be unsigned much longer.

2.Masego

This Virginia artist does it all! Masego plays a laundry list of instruments, sings, raps and produces music under his own genre ‘Traphouse Jazz’. He first caught my ear with the ‘Pink Polo EP’ in 2015 and then officially made me a fan with his ‘Loose Thoughts’ project released this summer. Masego is a wonderfully eclectic artist that will blow you away with his musicianship and catchy up-beat music.

3. Courderoy Cassette

Our final artist to round out our big 3 is also a Virginia native. Courderoy Cassette approaches his music in a refreshingly unorthodox way compared to the artists you hear on the radio and in the clubs. Courderoy writes and produces his own music to create a unique and organic sound that sets him apart from the pack. His first project ‘Side A’ dropped this summer and the project is filled with introspective tracks focusing on a variety of relationship issues we all have faced. Courderoy is working on his ‘Side B’ project now and I’m sure he will not disappoint.

This is all for the September Installment of ‘The Big 3’ Be sure to watch for the October edition coming soon!

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter
morethanwheels

I've been in college for four years now. I spent half my time as a commuter and half as a resident so I've experienced both sides of the housing spectrum. One thing I've learned comparing the two is that my struggles as a commuter far outweigh anything I went through while living on campus. Commuters have to deal with the problems school brings along with a slew of other issues; I've filled up my gas tank in the worst kind of weather conditions and napped in random places in public more times than I'm proud to say of. This is a list of some of the most challenging aspects of being a commuter.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!
