I could go on and on. There are so many labels that are thrown around.
Why do we label? Why do we call people things that are mean and nasty? Why do we think it is ok to give someone a label when we really do not even know the person? Why do we base everything about a person over one or two words? Why do we say this is ok?
You are not a label. A word or a number does not define you.
You are not defined by what people say about you. You are not defined by what your report card says. You are not defined by how well you do at athletics. You are not defined by how many friends you have. You are not defined by whether or not you can play a musical instrument. You are not defined by what year you were born. You are not defined by whether or not you fit in. You are not a label.
I am not saying do not work hard in school or try sports or music. Those things are very important. Go after your passions. Find what you love. Read new books and watch new shows. Try new hobbies and sports. Do not worry about how well you will do. Find what makes you happy.
We try so hard to fit in. We spend so much time comparing ourselves to others. We should all just work on being the best we can be. Be the best you. Do not worry about how that compares to others.
Do not spend time worrying about what you would change about yourself. Do not spend time talking badly about others. Work to make your day better. Work to be more positive and optimistic.
Smile, and share happiness with others. Everyone has his or her own problems and issues. Help others conquer theirs. I promise it will make you feel better.
Tomorrow morning wake up and do not think about what you would change, think about what you are thankful for. Spend a minute and think about what you love best about yourself. It is ok to do that, you know. Do you like your hair? Or your eyes? Do you have a certain quality about your self that you like? Maybe you are good at math? Or English? Maybe you are a great leader? Take a moment and think about those things. It is not bad to think about what you like about yourself.
The next time you start thinking about what you do not like about yourself, think about what you do like. Next time you start comparing yourself to others, stop and think about what you like about yourself.
Labels do not define you. Work at being the best you, you can be. Do not spend time talking badly about others or comparing yourself to others. Spend time bettering yourself. Make a decision to be positive and encouraging and you will feel better.
