The Best Ways to Enjoy An Autumn Day

Fall is such a flawless transition from hot, humid summers to cold, icy winters. In between these two extremes, you have a few months of perfectly sunny and chilly days, which make you feel perfectly cool and warm all at the same time. The lower temperatures are welcome relief from hotter summers, and the feeling of the sun is just enough to make you feel perfectly cozy. Put on your favorite sweater, maybe a scarf or hat if it is chilly, and go outside and enjoy this short season filled with beautiful foliage, the perfect weather, and pumpkin spiced everything. Enjoy.

Football Games

Football games are the classic fall activity. Whether you go to a NFL game or your local high school's homecoming game, there is nothing quite like spending your fall days outside watching your favorite team.

Farmer's Market

Get out to your local farmer's market. Fall is the end of farmer's market season and is definitely not something to be missed. Purchase some fresh fruits and veggies, and enjoy the weather.

Nature Hike

Before things freeze over and snowfalls begin, get in a few last hikes of the season. Get outside and get some fresh air. If you go at the right time, the foliage will not disappoint. Enjoy the vibrant reds, greens, golds, and oranges and sit back and appreciate the beauty in nature.

Pumpkin Carving

A jack-o-lantern is a fall favorite and the best preparation for halloween. Go to a local pumpkin patch and pick out the biggest, smallest, or weirdest shaped pumpkin: whatever your heart desires! Get home and carve your jack-o-lantern for your front step. Don't forget to save the seeds; roasted pumpkin seeds are absolutely delicious.

Apple Picking

Another classic fall activity is apple picking. There is nothing like spending the day with your family and enjoying all the festivities that a farm has to offer. From haunted hayrides, to corn mazes, to the delicious apple cider doughnuts, a day at an apple farm will not disappoint.

Play in the Leaves

Yes, this is something you used to do when you were a kid. Why not now? Have a moment of carefree childhood nostalgia and jump in the leaves, have a leaf fight with your siblings, and just enjoy yourself for a moment (before you have to rake them up again!).

Bake

Fall is the perfect time to bake. Whether you make apple pies with fresh apples, roast pumpkin seeds, or even treat yourself to a pumpkin pie, fall baking is a time of warm desserts topped with whipped cream and some vanilla ice cream. Dessert is the best way to treat yourself after a lengthy fall hike!

All of these activities are a great way to come together with family and friends and enjoy fall. Fall is the beginning of the holiday season with Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas all inching closer and closer. Enjoy the weather, the beautiful foliage, and the company that you are with. There is so much to be thankful for.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
