Everyone constantly is filling their homes and workspaces with succulents, trendy items to hold nothing and other items that just sit, and more items that just sit and take up space and hold .03495% of our heart. We buy items to fill voids, take the place of older things and to take those cool Instagram photos that seemingly make our online profiles look cooler than our lives actually are. The simple truth is that having all of these items may make us look cooler to people online and through life but can also psychologically make us go crazy because of the amount of "stuff" we have laying around. Here are a few of my favorite ways to declutter and feel a weight taken off by simply rearranging and riding of the unnecessary items we put into our world.
1. Get rid of clothing you say you will wear (but never do) or will "lose weight" for.
I know we all say we are going to lose the weight but honestly, I would rather get rid of the clothes, lose the weight and then go out and treat MYSELF for losing the dang weight!
2. Just clean your dang house.
I promise you will feel so much more at ease if you just take the vacuum cleaner to the floor and the mop to the tile/wood and get that dirt off!
3. Make every item that sits in your house have a specific purpose and benefit in your life.
EVALUATE EVERYTHING. I mean, EVERYTHING.
When we have items that just serve the purpose of sitting and don't actually benefit us, it becomes clutter and who needs more of that? Simply throw out the things you don't find useful and make room for items that could be put to use more.
4. Repurpose items that you feel the need to keep but don't use all the time.
Cause everyone has mouse traps laying around, right? Even changing the simplest of things around in your room: the place they are located, their function or part in your routine, can help you to look at items in a different way and make their uses multiply!
