Can you really blame me for saying that Fall is by far the best time of the year? I mean, how can you possibly beat the smell of pumpkin spice in every Dunkin you enter, pumpkins on every doorstep around, or the rapid change of the leaves from green to all sorts of colors? It is just something about Fall that makes everything a little better.
Being a college student now, I have grown to appreciate the season of fall much more than I did as a kid. I see campus going from an area of just green, to the lively colors that approach in the fall season. I no longer have to sweat walking to class, and I can FINALLY wear all my sweaters. Not to mention fall is the beginning of Ugg season! Now I know what you’re thinking, every typical white girl loves fall because they can get their pumpkin spice coffee, wear their flannels, Uggs, and post lots of instagram pictures of them apple picking and such, but honestly it is so much more than just that.
As a kid, Fall was the season where I got to do all kinds of festivities with my family and friends from pumpkin picking, to pumpkin carving, apple picking, haunted houses, trick or treating, corn mazes, Friday night football games, making candy apples, Halloween movies, and honestly so much more. I feel as though I took these for granted because now that I am a college student, a lot of these festivities have sadly disappeared. I wish I could go back to the days of trick or treating with my brother and sister or Friday night football games in high school. It does make me appreciate the traditions I still get to experience though. You bet I am going to still carve pumpkins and make candy apples, but I will certainly miss getting a pillowcase full of candy every October or jumping in a pile of leaves that I just raked up.
Even though I will not be home much for the Fall season, it will be fun to create new traditions with my friends and residents at school, and I will appreciate it more when I get to go home a few times to carve pumpkins and make candy apples with my family.
