October is winding down and the snow will soon be here at Colby-Sawyer. The pretty foliage will be gone and the mountains will be covered in a white blanket that we should all be using to our advantage. It is truly the most beautiful season, other than Autumn, that we get to experience here on campus and there are plenty of reasons to fall in love with this time of year. Here are five reasons why winter is the best season at CSC.
1. Free Skiing
I cannot for the life of me figure out why so many people do not take advantage of this! I cannot lie, but it was one of the deciding factors when applying to this school for me. Being able to have a full season free ski pass is a dream for some kids and it is hands down one of the best elements that this school has to offer.
2. The Scenery
During my first year here, I was amazed at how early it snowed. I was in awe of the beauty that it brought the school. CSC is already unique and so pretty without it, but the winter makes every building on this campus sparkle.
3. Our Dorms
Can you imagine being stuck inside a cinderblock room during the freezing months?! Our dorms are quaint and perfect to snuggle up into when there are a billion feet of snow outside. Even though the radiators are loud and come on when they feel like it, I would take it over cold white walls and tile floors any day.
4. The Library
If you say you don't love the library in the winter time here, you are lying. The old barn is my favorite place to curl up with a book and sip on a coffee from, perhaps what was the most exciting addition to the campus, the espresso machine. You can see the fields behind the school covered in white and the icicles hanging from the windows. It simply just adds to the beauty of the school in this season.
5. Snow Days
Of course, the best part about the winter here at Colby-Sawyer is the plethora of snow days we get. It is the absolute best feeling when you wake up to a fresh sheet of snow outside and an email from the school basically telling to just stay in bed for the rest of the day.
