With summer shortly coming to a close within a month, people's summer bucket list is just about finished. However, there are still a few more things you can add to the list and one of the best places to get away to complete that list is none other than right here in Ohio. Cleveland (AKA The Land or CLE or Believeland) is the perfect place to take a day trip. If you've never been to CLE than you are definitely missing out, especially since the city is starting to rebuild allowing for new opportunities and activities to be accomplished. There are plenty of great summer activities for you to do in CLE in this last month of summer.

Attend a Concert at Blossom

Blossom Music Center hosts multiple concerts throughout the year and is one of the best places to see your favorite headlining artists. If you're short on cash, not to worry; Blossom's lawn seats are some of the cheapest tickets you can find. Sitting in the lawn gives you plenty of room to sing and dance the night away without getting in anyone's way.

Attend a Sporting Event

Cleveland sports have come a long way the past few years and attending a game will allow you to see that CLE spirit. Whether you go see the Indians, the Cavs, or eventually the Browns, you'll love the energy and spirit you'll feel entering the stadium.

Go Down to the Flats

The Flats East Bank is right next to the Cuyahoga River. It has recently been rebuilt and has a ton of new bars and restaurants. Some of theses places have outdoor activities like giant jenga and cornhole, while others have karoke rooms, bowling, darts, shuffle board, and other activities. In addition to the great places to eat, the Flats host some concerts featuring local talents and have some festivals.

Go to the Zoo

The Cleveland Zoo is the best zoo in Ohio. The zoo is so large that you can spend the majority of the day there. What could be better than staring at animals all day, well how about riding a camel or feeding a giraffe. The Cleveland Zoo offers plenty of entertainment for young and old and is a must go see.

Head to the West Side Market

The West Side Market is Cleveland's oldest market featuring plenty of fresh foods. Pick up some great local food from over a hundred vendors and spend the day eating.

Hit Up a Beach

Surprisingly, Cleveland has some excellent beaches. On those hot summer days sometimes the best thing to do is jump into Lake Erie or tan on the sand. Grab your friends and begin an intense volleyball game or simply day drink. The best Cleveland beaches are Edgewater Park and Huntington Beach.

Go to a Museum

Cleveland is home to a variety of museums and there's something for everybody. If you're an art lover check out the Cleveland Art Museum or Museum of Contemporary Art. Of course there's the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame for all those rockers out there. In addition, there's the Natural History Museum, A Medical History Museum, Science Center, and plenty of others.

A Christmas Story House

If you're a Christmas enthusiast then you must go to the Christmas Story House where it's Christmas all year round. If you haven't seen this movie, then you're really missing out. Seeing the house will make the movie come to life.

Go to a Metropark

Cleveland's metro parks are quite popular and there are plenty to go see. Go on a hike, bike ride, or take a nice stroll while enjoy the beautiful scenery these Ohio parks have to offer. Also check out the Cleveland Botanical Gardens for even more nature.

Attend a Show

Right in downtown Cleveland is Playhouse Square where broadway shows play almost everyday. When you can't go to New York City, Cleveland is the next best place to see a broadway show. Furthermore, go check out the Cleveland Orchestra or other shows at Porthouse Theatre.

Take a Picture with The Free Stamp or the Cleveland Script Signs

Cleveland is home to the World's Largest Rubber Stamp with the word free on it. Naturally, who wouldn't want to take a picture with the World's largest anything. In addition, Cleveland has recently added three Script Signs throughout the city. It's a go to photo opt for anyone visiting CLE.

Cleveland is one of the best city's in Ohio and has a lot to offer. There's plenty of activities for people of all ages and is the perfect get away. So go out and explore CLE while making memories with friends and family.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead.
