The holiday season is a special time for many different reasons. Christmas music is on the radio all the time, lights are everywhere, stores are packed. It's no secret that the holidays are a big deal. But what is the best part of the holidays? These are my favorite things the holidays have to offer.
Christmas Specials
Whether it be "A Charlie Brown Christmas", "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer", or special Christmas episodes of your favorite sitcom, Christmas specials are an iconic part of the holiday season. If you watch a show in December, chances are, it'll be a Christmas episode. I don't know what it is about Christmas specials, but something is just so comforting about them.
Christmas Flavors
I know that's an odd way to word it, but there are a lot of flavors that come along with Christmas. Just like Thanksgiving brings us pumpkin spice, Christmas brings us peppermint, chocolate and cinnamon. All through December, people everywhere are drinking hot chocolate, peppermint mochas and eggnog. These flavors help make Christmas special. Now pass me the peppermint bark.
Christmas Music
Arguably the most popular way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear (I couldn't help myself). Christmas music has a life of its own, and every December, radio stations play it loud and proud, 24/7. Speaking for most people, you can't help but listen to the classics: "White Christmas", "Frosty the Snowman", "Twelve Days of Christmas", "Silent Night" and all the other famous hymns and carols. Speaking for myself, Trans-Siberian Orchestra and Mannheim Steamroller are necessities.
Christmas Spirit
The main thing everyone notices during Christmas. Everything listed before this comes together to make Christmas Spirit. There's joy and happiness in the air, with every carol we sing and every candy cane we eat. There's just something about Christmas that fills everyone with joy.
Merry Christmas, everyone!
