If you haven’t been living under a rock for the past year, you may have heard of a popular late night show called "The Late Late Show." The show is hosted by British comedian and actor James Corden. Thanks to James’ English humor and the shows' different approach to late-night television, this show has been responsible for some seriously incredible viral videos floating around the internet.
Because "The Late Late Show" has had no problem coming up with new, fun and creative ideas for the show they have been able to create some amazing recurring segments and some of the most popular among them being Carpool Karaoke.
Now I don’t know what writer, producer, James or whoever came up with this specific idea. But, whoever did was an absolute Genius and I hope they got a nice Christmas bonus. Since airing the first ever Carpool Karaoke Segment with Mariah Carey in 2015, these cheeky little episodes have only catapulted the show into bigger popularity, becoming a household name and a definite favorite late night show for many.
Now obviously, since I am currently sat here writing about these episodes, it may be a little bit obvious how obsessed I am with these episodes. And since I am a fan of these and can proudly say I have seen every single one (with the exception of the Red Hot Chili Peppers… sorry they’re just not my thing), I can confidently say that you can put your trust in trusting me to list the top six (it was way too difficult to just select five) BEST episodes that promise to make you laugh till you cry, smile till your cheeks hurt and bring some sunshine to an otherwise dreary day.
1. One Direction
Yes, you could accuse me of putting this one at the top out of sheer bias. And you definitely would not be wrong. Since the birth of One Direction, I was waiting for a moment like this and this episode , which boasts over 117 million views can easily go to show that people have watched this video not just because of bias, but because it is absolutely HILARIOUS.
2. Adele
This video alone has over 176 million views and counting and I don’t even dare to question why. Not only are two of the most amazing British icons sitting within one magnificently beautiful range rover, harmonizing their voices in musical perfection but, James Corden actually flew to England to make this episode with Adele happen and the episode is pure magic.
3. Broadway Carpool Karaoke
If you would've told me that some of the biggest Broadway stars, including Lin-Manuel Miranda would be driving around the Upper West Side with James Corden rapping and singing to Hamilton, Rent, Les Mis and other Broadway classics during Tony's Week 2016, I never would have believed you. And if even you still don't believe something so amazing could be experienced, then you should definitely click on the gif above and see this gloriousness for yourself.
4. Stevie Wonder
The one and only Stevie Wonder is singing all of his classics in a car while playing the harmonica and even teases starting up The Wondercats, a touring group with the Late Show host. Tears of happiness are shed, and Stevie even sings a song to James' wife. Need I say more?
5. Sam Smith featuring Fifth Harmony
Okay, so this Sam Smith episode is by far one of the sweetest and most genuine episodes. Sam, who was a breakout star 2012 is clearly one of the most down-to-earth guest James has had yet and as any true fanboy would, he absolutely adores Fifth Harmony and get surprised by them in the episode.
Watching the surprise and Sam’s genuine reaction you cannot help but smile and realize that even famous celebrities still fangirl over people in the industry. Warning; this carpool karaoke will definitely cause you to dance along when 5H brings in the beat.
6.Elton John
Two English legends, the rocket man, the comedian, colorful suits, colorful glasses and amazing music. If you still don’t understand why no regular sentences can describe this experience, click here.
While these are just a handful of the best Carpool Karaoke episodes, there are so many other amazing and entertaining episodes with the biggest stars in Hollywood just waiting to be enjoyed.
So, if you are obsessed with these videos or have just become obsessed with these videos (you're welcome), I still highly suggest diving in, watching some of the newer ones or older ones. And if your feeling adventurous, maybe even following the current youtube trend of making your own parody of the videos by driving around and singing with your friends.
