Who here doesn’t love Netflix? It is a great way to pass the time, procrastinate on an assignment, or something to do while hanging out with friends. I believe that Netflix has really stepped up their game recently on adding new, exciting and recent movies. Before I found it hard to find a movie that I actually wanted to watch. But now I run into the problem of not knowing which movie to pick. I guess this is a good thing since now my roommate and I will never run out of something to watch on Friday nights.

So here are some new movie additions to Netflix that you are definitely going to want to watch during your next movie night.

The Imitation Game

This movie came out in 2014 and I remember that as soon as the credits started to roll I wanted to watch it again… and now I can! The Imitation Game is based on true story of Alan Turing’s life and how he tries to crack the enigma code during World War II. Not only is this movie moving, suspenseful, and inspirational the acting is also really amazing, Benedict Cumberbatch and Keira Knightley do a brilliant job. So if you really like biographic dramas and thrillers I would highly recommend watching this movie.

Zootopia

So I recently watched this movie for the first time over the summer and it is one of the best movies I have ever seen. I am a huge fan of Disney movies and they really killed it again with this one. The one thing that makes this movie so great is that all ages can enjoy it. Older people may think that because it is animated it is for little kids, however that is completely false. This movie actually deals with huge societal issues and has great humor that everyone can enjoy. If you have not seen this movie yet you need to drop everything you are doing right now and go watch it!

Jaws

This movie is classic. Even though it came out 41 years ago it is always worth a rewatch. Returning to classic movies make for a really good movie night. Yes some of the special effects may be outdated, but this movie is actually still pretty terrifying. And now that it isn’t really beach weather anymore you will have plenty of time to recover from you fear of sharks before next summer. So pop some popcorn, turn off the lights and make sure to watch this Spielberg classic this fall semester.

The Big Short

This is another movie that I immediately loved after having seen it in theaters. Not only does it have big name actors starring in it like Christian Bale, Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling, and Brad Pitt, but it also does an amazing job telling the story of the housing bubble collapse in 2008. For someone who never really understood the housing bubble when it happened, this movie really made the whole situation more accessible. This movie has so many different dimensions including funny banter, serious moments, and tear jerking situations that you won’t be disappointed.

So those are all my favorite movies that got added to Netflix this past

September and also stay on the lookout for some great additions coming this month, including Titanic, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days, and Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.

Dear Mom,

You took care of me and my brothers our entire lives and you still continue to! I will not be able to truly grasp all of the hard work that you put into this family until I create my own one day. But, I know that there are plenty of times I forgot to give you a simple thank you or an appreciative smile. I thank you for everything that you have done for me and will continue to do for me. Here are some examples of those times where you had my back and I forgot to pat your back for saving me:

College is hard. As people ages 18-22, we’re just trying to figure out what we’re doing with our lives, our careers, our eating habits, exercise routines, sleep patterns, and other necessities for adult life. We definitely don’t take proper care of ourselves; it’s basically impossible when we have essays, tests and readings due and somehow we’re supposed to eat right, exercise and sleep. We’re doomed to get sick. I have zero experience in science but when I get sick there are certain things I do to make myself better.

Now that it seems “talking” is the new way to date, and will stay that way until another idiotic term is used to describe the people who can’t settle down and just date someone, I feel as if it’s time to go over the unwritten rules of “talking.”

Rule 1. Having feeling without feeling.
