It was recently revealed that Demon Slayer Mugen Train has topped the US Box Office. It has beaten movies like the blockbuster, Mortal Kombat movie. Currently, it has made 34 million dollars in the box office.
I recently watched the movie and I have to say that this movie is great. Admittedly, I would not go as far as to say that this movie is a masterpiece by any means, but I found it to be quite a solid movie and continuation to the story in Season 1 of the anime.
The pacing of the movie, while not as rapid as the main anime, adds to the overall story of the movie. The movie delves deeper into the psyches of the various main characters. Without stating any specific spoilers, in the movie, our main characters explore their deepest desires, which range from something as wholesome as Zenitsu wanting to be with Nezuko to something far darker such as Tanjiro wanting to have his family back.
The animation in the movie also feels much more crisp compared to the main series. This is not to say that the animation displayed in the main series is bad by any means. The animation in the anime series is beautiful. The movie, however, just feels more fluid and more highly defined. The shadows and the artistic diversity are much more profound.
Those who decide to watch this movie should expect an amazing ride that involves great pacing and fight scenes. The movie is a must-watch before watching Season 2 of the series, whenever it eventually comes out. This movie symbolizes a shift in the characters' psyches and how they see the overall situation with the demons and Muzan Kibitsuji.
I would give this movie a solid 8/10. While not a masterpiece by any means, it is a solid movie that does justice to the characters and the overall story and does an amazing job at continuing where Season 1 of the show left off.
