The Drive Within You

Inspiration is what keeps you going, but drive is what gets you that goal.

The Drive Within You
Kerrpin

Novel Excerpt of 'Jacer' by Liero Marchesi.

"Empty space lied everywhere, but even empty space can contain a face. My mind was warped with sensations of electricity and vibrations. All I could see was dotted lines flashing while unknown sounds ran through my head. Darkness surrounded me as light tried to fall through. I felt as if something was about to happen, but the moment never came."

What you just read is an excerpt of a novel I am currently working on. The point of showing you that, as well as for this entire piece, is to demonstrate to you that the drive, power, and motivation that you possess can be turned into a work of art. It can be harnessed and turned into something beautiful. You control what your life becomes and what your life will be defined by. No one can stop you from achieving your goal but yourself. If your goal is what you truly desire, then it will eventually become your reality. I have seen some of my goals go to complete waste, and I've seen some of my goals achieved in the brightest of ways. The journey in accomplishing your goal is essentially a learning process in obtaining what you long for in life. The drive within yourself is what pushes you forward. Everyone has wanted to gain something in their life at one point or another. Many have failed to do so, but just because some aren't as successful as they'd want to be in life. Why does that have to be you? Why can't you be the minority in life when it comes to achieving your dreams? Why can't it be you who actually chases their dreams or makes their goal a reality? Why not you? That should be the question you ask yourself next time you have a goal or dream in mind.

Of course there will be hardships when you are trying to turn your dream into a reality: seizing a challenging goal has it's downsides. Not completing the goal as fast as you'd like, having other commitments, or even learning the hard way that your goal is extremely difficult to obtain. All in all, these downsides will likely occur when you are trying to accomplish your goal, but realizing how much you really desire that goal will propel you to the edge. This is where the drive within you occurs, because if that goal means more to you than the obstacles you are facing then there should be no doubt in your mind that that goal will be reached. We as humans see obstacles and immediately are prone to feel fear, but if we drive past those moments of panic achieving the goal will be seemingly effortless. If there is anything in life that you want to do or achieve, you can. That goal of yours is right in front of you! All you have to do is go get it. Dreams want to be chased, but in reality it's you that needs the chase to rise above your bullheaded thoughts. Your mind will always be prone to fear obstacles that have been placed in front of you. You will feel scared, frantic, and even doubt yourself at times, but in the end it will be the drive within you that will excel you through your goal and onto other dreams.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter
morethanwheels

I've been in college for four years now. I spent half my time as a commuter and half as a resident so I've experienced both sides of the housing spectrum. One thing I've learned comparing the two is that my struggles as a commuter far outweigh anything I went through while living on campus. Commuters have to deal with the problems school brings along with a slew of other issues; I've filled up my gas tank in the worst kind of weather conditions and napped in random places in public more times than I'm proud to say of. This is a list of some of the most challenging aspects of being a commuter.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!
