Memes. Definition: a humorous image, video, piece of text, etc. that is copied (often with slight variations) and spread rapidly by Internet users. They may relate to various existing Internet cultures or subcultures, often created or spread on various websites, or by Usenet boards and other such early-internet communications facilities. Fads and sensations tend to grow rapidly on the Internet, because the instant communication facilitates word-of-mouth transmission. Even without the technical definitions for the word, most of us are already aware of what memes are when we see them. This year, 2016, being a year ever penchant on surprises and the unimaginable becoming reality, has had some great examples in the evolution of memes. Ah, yes, good old Hauppauge. We are that town in the dead center of Long Island that barely anyone knows how to pronounce unless they're from the town itself or live in a nearby area. Hauppauge is home to people of all kinds. We always have new families joining the community but honestly, the majority of the town is filled with people who never leave (high school alumni) and elders who have raised their kids here.
