"Who is your favorite Friends character?" It may sound like a simple question, but it is one of the most dreaded questions for a Friends fanatic. Some common responses include "I can't choose!" or "They are all my favorite!" When the truth is revealed, you hear a mix of Chandler, Joey, Monica, Phoebe, and Rachel. Ross Geller, however, is a name left in the shadow 99.9% of the time. He may be underrated, but his charm and goofy personality help make for some of the best scenes of Friends. Check out the top Ross moments below...
1. The One with Ross’ Tan (Season 10, Episode 3)
Ross: I went to the tanning place your wife suggested.
Chandler: Was that place the sun?
After creepily noticing how nice Monica’s legs look after her spray tan, Ross decides to indulge and get one himself. The simple instructions (count to five and turn) throw him a curveball when he counts “mississippilessly,” resulting in a two-toned Ross that, according to Chandler, could do a duet of “Ebony and Ivory” all by himself.
2. The One with Unagi (Season 6, Episode 17)
Ross: Look, I studied karate for a long time, and there's a concept you should really be familiar with. It's what the Japanese call unagi.
Phoebe and Rachel decide to take self-defense classes to be
prepared for the future dangers of NYC. Ross graciously contributes his own
advice on martial arts, but it only makes Rachel and Phoebe hungry for sushi.
3. The One with Ross' Teeth (Season 6, Episode 8)
Ross: Hey, Rachel, did you notice...
Rachel: Your teeth? Yeah, I saw them from outside.
When Ross gets set up with a woman from work, he decides to whiten his teeth for the date… for an entire day. The end result is an extremely awkward date, and many people are scared of his appearance, including Phoebe whose reaction is to shout “DEMON!”
4. The One with All the Resolutions (aka: Ross' leather pants) (Season 5, Episode 11)
Ross: I got really hot in my leather pants so I took them off, but they must have shrunk from the-the sweat or-or-or my legs expanded from the heat. Look, I-I can't put them back on. I can't!
The group of friends make their New Years resolutions. Ross' resolution is to do something he's never done every single day, like wear leather pants on a date. The pants end up being too hot, so he goes to the bathroom to cool down, but he can't pull the pants back up. It ends with Ross in a mess of baby powder, lotion—and a shrunken pair of leather pants.
5. The One with the Cop (aka: the pivot episode) (Season 5, Episode 16)
Ross: Pivot. Pi-vot. PI-VOT.
When Ross buys a new sofa for his apartment, he asks Rachel and Chandler to help him carry it up the stairs. Although Ross had a master plan, the sofa wouldn’t budge, no matter how many times he screamed “pivot.” (End result: the sofa was sawed in half… sorry Ross.)
6. The One with Ross' Sandwich (Season 5, Episode 9)
Ross: You-you-you...You threw my sandwich away... my sandwich? My sandwich?
On Ross’ first day back at work after Thanksgiving, he packed his favorite sandwich made out of leftovers. He couldn't keep his cool when a fellow colleague admitted to eating his sandwich, which was the "the only good thing going on in his life."
7. The One with the Routine (Season 6, Episode 10)
Monica: Ross we better stick to the routine; we don't want to look stupid.
When Monica and Ross are invited to the taping of "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve," they are desperate to get on camera. That’s when they decide to resurrect their old primary school “routine” to wow the cameramen, and it definitely leaves an impression.
8. The One Where Joey Loses His Insurance (aka: Ross' British accent) (Season 6, Episode 4)
Rachel: Oh Hello Dr. Geller. This is Professor McNulty from the fake accent University. We'd like you to come on board with us full time.
Ross gets a part-time job as a guest lecturer at the university and is eager to impress the students. When Rachel and Monica come to visit, they are shocked to hear Ross lecturing in a fake British accent. Cheers, mate.
9. The One Where Ross is Fine (Season 10, Episode 2)
Ross: I'm fine. Totally fine. I don't know why it's coming out all loud and squeaky because, really, I'm fine.
When Ross finds out that Joey and Rachel are dating, everyone is concerned for his emotional state. He plays it cool, though and insists that he is fine, over and over.
10. The One with All the Rugby (Season 4, Episode 15)
Ross: Okay, I know what I have to do. I’ve got to go Red Ross Ya know, Red Ross!
Joey: I totally don’t know what you’re talking about.
Ross: Come on! The time we were all waiting in line for Dances With Wolves and that one guy cut in line in front of us and I just lost it! Screamed at him! Turned all red! Red Ross!
Ross’ fiancé Emily runs into her English friends at the park
and they invite Ross to play rugby with them. Ross accepts the invitation to
impress Emily, but ends up as rubble on the bottom of the pack. Enter “Red Ross!"
11. The One with the Holiday Armadillo (Season 7, Episode 10)
Ross (In armadillo costume): What are you doing here Santa?
Chandler (In Santa costume): Well I'm here to see my old buddy Ben! What are you doing here...weird turtle man?
Ross gets to celebrate the holidays with his son, Ben, and is enthusiastic to teach him more about his Jewish heritage. Ben, however, is upset that the holiday will be Santa-less. Ross decides to surprise Ben in a Santa costume, but the store is sold out, so he invents Santa's talking desert friend: the Holiday Armadillo.
12. The One Where Chandler Crosses the Line (aka: Ross plays the keyboard) (Season 4, Episode 7)
Monica: He used to lock himself in the basement for hours. No one was ever allowed to hear, "The Sound."
Phoebe: I wanna hear "The Sound."
Ross: Really? No. I mean, nah, I haven’t played in so long, and-and, well it’s-it’s really personal stuff, ya know?
Phoebe: Come on, play that funky music white boy.
Phoebe asks Ross to help her write part of a song, which leads him to reminisce about his keyboard playing days. She convinces him to play in front of their friends. The result is not quite music, but noises of barking dogs, sirens, helicopter sounds, and explosions. Phoebe finds his playing “inspiring,” while everyone else is cringing.
13. The One Where Ross Finds Out (aka: Ross and Rachel Central Perk kiss) (Season 2, Episode 7)
Ross: What? You're over me? When were you...under me?
This episode should just be called “The Kiss”. Every Friends fan knows this scene by heart. Rachel drunkenly confesses her feelings for Ross on a voicemail, which makes Ross mad because she had never told him how she truly felt before. The episode ends in Rachel closing down Central Perk for the night when she sees Ross in the window. Cue the best kiss on television.

Phoebe: He's her lobster!
When the six friends watch a home video of Rachel and Monica’s prom, they find out that Ross quickly put on a suit after Rachel’s date bailed on her right before the dance… one of the most romantic moves by Rachel’s lobster.
So, there you have it. Ross out.
