To My Best Friend | The Odyssey Online

Hey babe,

First I want to say thank you. Thank you for staying with me and fighting through everything messy because you believed in me. Thank you for holding my hand when I needed you to. Thank you for telling me to stop crying over that boy because he didn’t deserve my tears. You bring out the best in me and I thank you.

This isn’t to say that we don’t fight. Any healthy relationship has had its fair share of fighting, “break ups”, and make ups. Friendship as pure as ours has no words. It is strong and exciting, and anyone who hangs out with us knows that they can’t invite one without the other, but we would like to see them try. We can do anything together and never get bored of each other, maybe a little sick of each other, but never bored. Your family is my family, and my family is yours. With all of our inside jokes it’s hard to recognize if we are having a regular conversation, or if we are quoting a scene from our favorite movies.

You are the Ponton to my Inspector Clouseau, the Christina to my Meredith, the Tamara to my Jenna, and the Stiles to my Scott. You are the person that I want to be with me when everything goes to crap, and when everything goes right. You are the person who I can go to when I have the best or worst nights. I can tell you anything and never be judged.

For the past 10 years you and me have shared almost everything with each other. First kisses, first dates, first heart breaks, and so on. To have someone this special stay in your life for so long is something that most people don’t get to experience. Most people don’t find a person who makes every bad part of them better. They say that you have many soul mates in your life and I believe that you are one of mine. I would give anything for your happiness and I know you would do the same for me. That kind of sacrifice doesn’t come around often and the fact that we have found each other, two people that would give everything and anything to make sure the other is okay is a blessing. You come before almost anyone else in my life. I don’t know what I would or could do without you right there pushing me to be a better me.

You are my best friend, my other half, and I love you.

Always and forever,

Your best friend

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
