Though people enjoy dramas, like the Walking Dead, How to Get Away With Murder, and Scandal, these shows deal around murders, betrayal, and possible certain death... Not the best shows to elevate your mood from the crappy week you've had at school or work. However, some shows deal around lighter and happier themes, having the ability to lighten the ~vibe~ of how your life has been or maybe making your forget that embarrassing moment when you feel down the the stairs in public. Thanks to their comedy and upbeat characters, they can make you laugh. And you know what they say, laughter is the best medicine!

1. Brooklyn-99

IMDb

Though a little biased based on the fact that this my favorite TV show, Brooklyn-99 has 100 things and a half to offer, ranging from lovable, quirky characters like the main character who is bright and but ultimately immature in the sense of he has the humor of a 5-year old child or the the sassy and too-shallow but ultimately kind diva secretary adds a special touch to the show. Aside from this, there is also diversity and the Power of Friendship (a trope that is all too underrated) and occasionally an all-too real problem (a Latina detective coming out to her family) which makes the show dear to the heart for it tugs at the heartstrings.

2. Parks & Rec

Aquart

This show is mostly centered around the characters because of the lovable Leslie Knope and her adorable flaws which range from caring too much about her tiny Pawnee and being an overachiever. The show deals with the government institution of Parks and Recreation and the day-to-day staff work days and how each character, within the department, finds personal growth and happiness... each in their own beautiful way. However, a good show wouldn't be complete with good tear-jerking moments, and parks and rec has plenty of that.

3. The Mindy Project

Fox

Actual queen, Mindy Kaling (writer and actress (in The Office as dysfunctional Kelly Kapoor)) became a star in her TV show that dealt with the up and downs of Mindy Lahiri, an Indian-American woman that fought through blatant racism and people dealing with her success while being a PoC and a woman and not "skinny", her own words . This show teaches a lot of self-confidence a love, showing that not because you are not white, skinny woman you can't have a happy, love-filled life.

Because of the way the characters interact with their environment and their friends, each show has earned a place in my top 5 TV shows for each has a unique characteristics that make it stand out from the collection of TV shows that fill hours and hours of cable. Aside from this, they show how to grow from your flaws through close friendship and love... If that is not fairytale-is enough, then I don't know what is.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
