The semester is finally over and it's time to get LIT. One of my favorite things to do over the holiday season is to look at all the pretty Christmas lights, and Arkansas sure doesn't disappoint. I've put together a list of the best places to see the lights in Arkansas, how many will you visit before the break is over?

Sherwood Forest

Sherwood Forest Enchanted Trail of Lights is a drive-thru light showing open every night 6-9:30 p.m. Admission is free but non-perishable food items are welcome. Sherwood, AR.

Garvan Woodland Gardens

Garvan Woodland Gardens offers 17 acres of an animated holiday display nightly from 5-9 p.m. Children up to five years old get in free, ages 6-12 will cost $5, for adults it's $15. Enjoy a complimentary hot chocolate at the end of your tour. Hot Springs, AR.

Lights of the Ozarks

Each year the Fayetteville Square is lit up with over 400,000 lights and is incredibly romantic. The kids can sit on Santa's lap and pet his reindeer, and you can enjoy carriage rides and hot chocolate. Fayetteville, AR.

Enchanted Land of Lights and Legends

Arkansas' largest drive-thru light display offers 1.3 miles of magic and over 250 displays. Admission is free and donations are welcome, for $25 you can purchase a Christmas Star that will be lit and displayed in the park "In Honor Of" a person or organization you choose. Pine Bluff, AR.

Arkansas State Capitol

Whether you've lived in Arkansas your whole life or it's your temporary home, the lights at the capitol should be on your bucket list of light shows. Aside from the firework show that goes along with the initial lighting of the capitol there isn't much to it other than seeing our capitol beautifully lit. Little Rock, AR.

Hodo's Christmas Light Show

You can catch this awesome light show that is synchronized with a radio station you can tune into, for free, from 5-10 p.m. Sunday - Thursday and 5-11 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Van Buren, AR.

Downtown Paris

Take a day trip over to Paris to see the sparking lights or join in on the Tour of Homes or Dinner on the Square. I hear there's also a pretty, lit up replica of the Eiffel Tower. Paris, AR.

White River Wonderland

This is the place to be if you're looking for ice skating, carriage rides, and a light show. Located right beside the White River in Batesville, AR.

Downtown Eureka Springs

Eureka Springs is an adorable town to begin with, but during the holidays it's an extra special sight. Take a walk down the main strip and see twinkling lights everywhere. Eureka Springs, AR.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
