It Was The Only Thing I Wanted

The BEST Birthday Surprise EVER!

Labor Day weekend is my birthday weekend. My birthday is September 4, yes I happen to share the same birthday as Beyonce, just in case you did not know. I spent my birthday over three days and I enjoyed each and every day. I waited on my birthday this year and was happy the day was closer and closer. The faster September came the more I got excited. Hey all Virgos! I never know what I want on my birthday, gifts get difficult each year.

Im in my second year of college and I could say all I want for my birthday is money, because 'broke college student' rings true. However, I wanted something but just didn't know what it was. You know the older you get the less gifts you get when it comes to birthdays and holidays. So I did not really expect anything more than balloons and a couple of cards and I was honestly fine with that.

Friday is when my birthday weekend began, I went to work all day and when I came home my boyfriend set my room up to where there were roses all over the bed. There where little note cards and my favorite chocolate! Yes Dove, Dark Chocolate and Almonds. He welcomed me with a foot massage since I was on my feet all day at work. I was happy and in a relaxed state. My boyfriend continued to say that there was more to come so I looked forward to it.

I went to work the next day and was anticipating going home so I could see what my boyfriend had planned next. My best friend called me before I came home so I waited for her but to my surprise she was in on the whole plan with my boyfriend. When I walked into my room there was a plate with chocolate covered strawberries, two roses, and a note. Then there was also a gift bag from my best friend. I began to tear up because I was so grateful to have them. That night we went out and enjoyed ourselves.

The next day was my birthday, and I really did not have any plans. I was going to get my cake and just await for my mother, sister, and grandma to come see me. My boyfriend's mom came and gave me a gift and we had lunch. All we had to do was wait for my family to come and then everything would go according to plan. My cake was exactly how I wanted it, I LOVE Victoria Secret. If I'm not in VS it's PINK all the time, seriously not a joke. I got my cake designed to look like a Victoria Secret bag. I absolutely loved it.

I got a text message from my mom that read:

"Im so upset"

My grandmother's car would not start meaning they probably would not be able to come to see me for my birthday. My boyfriend, best friend and I where just laying around waiting for them. I waited a while and then my grandma called me and said they would not be able to make it and that she was looking for another way of getting here. I instantly broke into tears and was devastated.

As I stated above I am in my second year of college and I dorm. Last year for my birthday I traveled home. So I thought this year could be different. My family could travel to me on my day. I began to cry because I realized that was all I really wanted was to see my family, especially my mom. She gave birth to me on this day so why not? My boy friend and best friend told me it was going to be okay. That we were still going to go out and have a good time, so I shouldn't feel bad.

They practically forced me to shower and get dressed. So I got in the shower and tried to calm down. My eyes were really... really red, so I kept trying to wash my face. I got out, did my make up and proceeded to my room. As I was getting dress my boyfriend and best friend were whispering about something but I wasn't listening good enough to see what they were fully saying.

My boyfriend had stepped out and me and my friend got dressed. I was bending over looking for a shirt in my draw and I heard people walking in. To my surprise it was my mom, little sister, and grandma. I was so surprised that I began to tear. Come to find out my boyfriend got my family an Uber and that's how they were able to come after all. I was able to enjoy myself, blow out candles on my cake and go out to dinner. I didn't have anything to wish for because I felt like I had everything.

Later on that night, as me and my boyfriend laid in bed, I asked him why he got an Uber for my family so they were able to spend my birthday with me. He said to me "Because you never really want or ask for anything, and I heard you say all you wanted was to see them. So I knew that getting them here would truly make you happy."

SO there you have it, My birthday was indeed "All I ever wanted".

I went to sleep in his arms as a smile swept over my face.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.
