The west coast truly is the best coast when it comes to beaches. From the Washington coast to the California coast there are plenty of beaches and places to kick back and relax. Below are the top 3 b1.eaches to go to and where there is plenty of stuff to do in the area near the beach.

1. Cannon Beach, Oregon

This beach is a great spot along the Oregon coast when it is actually warm enough in Oregon to go to the beach. This beach is known for its famous rock known as the Haystack rock which stands at 235 feet! This beach is also known as the beach where the movie The Goonies was filmed during the 1980s. I remember coming here as a kid with my friends and climbing on the huge rocks along the beach and building sandcastles. I highly recommend this beach if you love bringing your dog everywhere as there is almost always a lot of dogs at this beach.

2. Mission Beach, California

This beach has just about everything you would imagine for a beach bum. This beach has volleyball courts, long sidewalks along the beach for bikes and walkers, an amusement park, and nice waves. The beach is located near SeaWorld and is a great spot to go to in San Diego regardless of the time of year. The beach is a 2-mile long peninsula that is on the Pacific. Ocean. When I went here about three years ago, I loved this beach because the waves are just perfect for boogie boarding. I am not much of a surfer so I love how this beach doesn't get overwhelmed with surfers in the water as there are a lot better places in San Diego to surf.

3. Venice Beach, California

If you haven't been to Venice beach yet I highly suggest that you do. There are a ton of things to do at this beach. If you are into weightlifting and exercise, this beach will be perfect for you. This beach is known as Muscle beach because of its gym that is located outside and right near the beach. Some of the most famous bodybuilders go to this gym including one of the all-time greats Arnold Schwarzenegger. The culture at this location is what really sets this place apart from just an ordinary beach.

There are a ton of street performers on the boardwalk or even on the sand. It helps that this place is so close to the Santa Monica Pier yet I believe that this place is much more fascinating. The art in Venice, California is truly remarkable as there is a lot of great murals and cool quirky shops nearby to go see. Just remember to be careful when entering Venice Beach as it is known to have some interesting people there, to say the least.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever.
