No one loves the holiday season more than me. I love decorating, spending time with my friends and family, watching Christmas movies, drinking hot chocolate, cold weather, and basically everything that accompanies this time of year. The months of November and December have always been exciting and festive, but for college students, it's without argue the worst time of the year.
We all leave for Thanksgiving break excited to return home and see our families, but it's difficult to relax when in just a few days, we go back to school and "finals szn" begins. Review sessions, late nights in the library, and professors trying to squeeze topics into the last lectures of the year all contribute to the stress college students have to deal with in these weeks leading up to winter break. And because of all of the studying and stress, I've noticed that no one is really in the holiday spirit. We're just grouchy and tired and praying that these next days go by quickly.
So, if you're a parent wondering why your kid isn't as lively or happy as normal, don't freak out. It just means that we're slightly burnt out from working so hard.
And to all of my fellow students, good luck. It'll all pay off soon!
