The Benefits Of Being A Basic White Girl This Fall

Fall is right around the corner and, for many, it's the best season ever. However, others fear this season because of one thing — the return of the Basic White Girl. But while they're over there hating on us, they don't realize all the amazing things they're missing out on.

Here are the top five reasons why you should be a Basic White Girl this fall.

1. Carving pumpkins is fun.

While you may wonder why we needed to take a picture with the pumpkin, we wonder why not to take the picture. We've spent just as much time picking out that pumpkin you see in our Instagram as we did searching Pinterest for carving ideas. The picture of us with the pumpkins are for us, not you, because we had a great time going to pick out the pumpkins with friends and family.

2. Pumpkin anything is delicious.

People who don't drink Pumpkin Spice Lattes (or eat anything pumpkin-flavored), because they're labeled basic, are just missing out. Since they're only offered for a limited time, we have to take advantage of the opportunity. If you want to hate on us, we don't care; we're too busy enjoying our pumpkin-flavored treats.

3. Leggings and oversized sweaters are super comfortable.

This is another example of something people hate on, but if they tried it, they'd love it and be obsessed with it too. It's no longer summer, and we no longer have to worry about showing off our bikini-ready stomachs and our tan legs. So in the early, crisp fall mornings, when its too much effort to pull on a pair of jeans, we lean towards our trusted leggings and sweaters. But really, any and all fall fashions are our favorites, because fall fashion is hands-down the cutest.

4. Baking.

After you've made your trip to the apple orchard, you get to make apple pies or apple whatever you want. Nothing is better on a crisp fall day then some homemade cookies. So, to everyone who thinks baking is basic, you just won't get any pie.

5. Dressing up for Halloween isn't just for little kids.

If you're a Basic White Girl, chances are you already know what you're going to be for Halloween. You and your friends have been talking about it since August a lot of planning goes into it! You want to be clever and cute obviously, but those costumes don't happen overnight. Some people think we try too hard, but we love it. Go hard or go home.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!
