Our eyes are the part of us that takes in every moment, every experience we've lived through whether it was uplifting or heart-wrenching...they capture it all like a camera set on long exposure

"Her eyes have their own vocabulary. What a beautiful language to learn"

There's a lot of things people first take notice of when they meet someone, and for me, it's a person's eyes. The eyes reveal so much about an individual and it goes so much deeper than the beautiful mixtures of unique colors within the iris. They tell a story, take others on a journey, leaving them wondering what that person has lived through.

Our eyes are the part of us that takes in every moment, every experience we've lived through whether it was uplifting or heart-wrenching...they capture it all like a camera set on long exposure. They've held every tear that's been cried and every ounce of joy that’s been felt. They contain the secrets of the past and the hopes for the future in which no one may have knowledge about except for God.

Isn't it mind-blowing that we can never know what things look like through another's eyes? That we can only experience a glimpse of it when they invite us in and take the time to get to know them and share their perspective?

How is it that this seemingly 'small' part of us can reveal so much?! That God made our eyes so unique to each one of us that it is something that can speak great measures into someone's life without a verbal word even having to be said.

And as the year's pass and time takes its toll, you still have these eyes. The same eyes that first opened the second you were born into this world, the same eyes someone may have fallen deeply in love with 20 years ago. Their eyes always being the thing that their gaze falls upon, falling in love over again through the look that was first shared many years ago.

It being something that never gets boring or tiresome, something constant and always revealing so much to each other even as the years go on. The eyes are something that doesn't change while the rest of physical body may. Sight and vision may fade, but the experiences and memories taken in with them will forever be held within.

I can't help but be in complete awe of this small yet powerful feature the Lord designed and blessed us with, it's truly mind-boggling when you take a moment to think about it...How intricately He designed every aspect of our being, of our unique existence here on earth, of the things He knew our eyes would take in.. it really does leave you breathless.

For we truly are …. “fearfully and wonderfully made…” and that His “works are wonderful, I know that full well.”- Psalm 139:14 NIV

"If only eyes saw souls instead of bodies, how very different our ideals of beauty would be"

Parks and Recreation excitedly gathered around a laptop at a table in an office setting.

The library. Club lib. The place every college student goes when they want to try and be a productive member of society. Who better to explain your experience than Parks and Rec?

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
