The Beauty In The Rain

And the beauty in a sunset.

There are certain things in life that make you smile. They give you this little warm fuzzy feeling and you know that everything in life is going to be okay. I had one of those moments this past week. Moments like these always reassure me that God is always there and has a plan for my life. Things may not be working out exactly the way I thought they would, but they are working out just the way He knew they would.

While on my two and a half hour drive home, it started pouring the second I got on the highway. When I say pouring, I mean it. It gave raining cats and dogs a whole new meaning. People were pulled over on the side of the road, police were stopped with their lights on helping people and everyone still capable of driving had their flashers on driving 40 miles per hour in a 70. It was a nasty rain and it took my windshield wipers being on the highest setting to see at least 10 feet in front of my car. I drove in this rain for about 30 minutes. At some points the rain got lighter and I thought it would let up, but it would always start up again leaving me driving like a grandma though puddles of water.

After the rain let up, the clouds all came together and formed the most beautiful sunset I think I have ever seen in my life. There were colors I can't describe and the way they mixed together reminded me of a beautiful painting. The mix of purple, pink, yellow, red and blue makes for a beautiful scene and it got me thinking about God and His love and plan for our lives.

There might be times in our lives when it is raining cats and dogs and when you can’t see 10 feet in front of you. There might be times when the rain seems like it’s going to let up and yet it only continues to pour on your only shred of hope. There can be times when life pounds on you and it seems like it will never let up, but in the end if eventually does. The rain lets up and out comes this beautiful sunset. It can be a blessing in your life that you never expected as well as someone who blesses your life. Life's sunsets can come in all forms but are always beautiful and worth the rain.

God promises that life will be full of sunsets, but you must also know that to have these sunsets life will have rain. Life will have rain that can seem to be letting up, but it only continues to pour. But the sunsets are worth the wait and are worth the hardships. The waiting for the rain to stop might be the hardest part but it's worth it.

girl with a hat

This is for the girls who have dealt with an emotionally, mentally, physically or verbally abusive father.

The ones who have grown up with a false lens of what love is and how relationships should be. The ones who have cried themselves to sleep wondering why he hurts you and your family so much. This is for all the girls who fall in love with broken boys that carry baggage bigger than their own, thinking it's their job to heal them because you watched your mother do the same.

Blair Waldorf Quote
"DESTINY IS FOR LOSERS. IT'S JUST A STUPID EXCUSE TO WAIT FOR THINGS TO HAPPEN INSTEAD OF MAKING THEM HAPPEN." - BLAIR WALDORF.

The world stopped in 2012 when our beloved show "Gossip Girl" ended. For six straight years, we would all tune in every Monday at 9:00 p.m. to see Upper Eastside royalty in the form of a Burberry headband clad Blair Waldorf. Blair was the big sister that we all loved to hate. How could we ever forget the epic showdowns between her and her frenemy Serena Van Der Woodsen? Or the time she banished Georgina Sparks to a Christian summer camp? How about that time when she and her girls took down Bart Bass? Blair is life. She's taught us how to dress, how to be ambitious, and most importantly, how to throw the perfect shade.

too tired to care

We've all been there. From move-in day to the first finals week in college, your first term is an adventure from start to finish. In honor of college decisions coming out recently, I want to recap some of the most common experiences college freshmen experience.

1. The awkward hellos on move-in day.

You're moving your stuff onto your floor, and you will encounter people you don't know yet in the hallway. They live on your floor, so you'll awkwardly smile and maybe introduce yourself. As you walk away, you will wonder if they will ever speak to you again, but don't worry, there's a good chance that you will make some great friends on your floor!
