The Beauty of Mental Health

Mental Health is something a lot of us take from granted in today's world. We as a society are always told to take care of our physical health, to lose weight and to make sure to workout. However, we are rarely educated on the importance of preserving and taking care of our mental health.

Taking care of one's mental health covers varying degrees and methods. Most notably, is the practice of meditation. Meditation does wonder to help with anxiety and stress. It has been said that people who regularly meditate tend to experience far less negative thoughts and emotions.

Another good mental health practice is positive self-talk. A lot of people feel the weight of other people's criticisms personally and heavily. Oftentimes, people feel like they have all of this weight on them. What they forget is to have positive self-talk. At the end of the day, you have to be your own best friend. Positive self-talk can help to raise a person's self-esteem and self-worth.

Another good practice is working out. It has been shown that working at can actually help to improve a person's self-image and confidence. Working out for even 30 minutes a day can achieve this.

Also, it is good to be able to vent about your frustrations. Oftentimes, people elect to keep their emotions in check. People should be more open to vocalizing their emotions.

Inner peace is something that can be attained through paying attention to one's mental health. Stress and unhappiness are at an all-time high in our society. Depression and anxiety are something that has become more common especially amongst the youth.

Paying attention to mental health can lead to an overall happy life. You can learn to appreciate the little things more and not stress over things that are out of your control.

College is hard. As people ages 18-22, we’re just trying to figure out what we’re doing with our lives, our careers, our eating habits, exercise routines, sleep patterns, and other necessities for adult life.
