The Back To School Pep Talk

What you should tell yourself before you go back.

Let's face it..

School is about to start back up and you probably haven't done a single thing to even prepare. Well maybe you did get your first day of school outfit or those new pair of shoes you want to roll up in.

We've spent the past 3 months laying in the sun, hanging out w friends, and going on adventures. You tried to push the thought of school creeping up around the corner out of your mind.

How can we prepare ourselves for the next year? It is time to learn the importance of accepting this.

You've gone through this over and over. So how do you tell yourself you got this!!

Well it is quite easy...

Prepare yourself: Get your shi*t right now! GO NOW!! I've learned the very hard way that if you come unprepared you my friend will not be getting that letter of recommendation you NEED. School supplies are always a necessity. Like your textbook that will get you an A in the class.

Make friends, I know it may be hard to get to know strangers in your class but that is how you will succeed. If you don't want to go to class the next day feel free to ask that guy that you've been sitting next to to give you all the details.

I am of the fortunate few who enjoys being at school, yes it can be very boring but also in college you get time to learn about what you want when you want it. Make the best of it.

So get excited! Let yourself enjoy the place that can honestly keep your mind off the other things going on in your life.

The first day of school is always the hardest.

Start the day with a bomb outfit and a great pep talk. Look yourself in the mirror, these sixteen weeks are going to fly by, you will kick a#!, you are great, and nobody can stop you. You look amazing.

As my mother likes to say treat yo self. Get something special on the way to the first day of school. I like to treat myself to a Dunkin Donut coffee and some of their amazing hash browns. Rewarding yourself can make the day feel like it is going smoother than you think.

Late to class because you can't find it? Don't sweat it! Teachers can be very understanding since they go through the same thing as you. They don't always know where their going. Eventually you'll find it.

Try not to get scheduled for work on the first day of classes, You definitely don't want to have to worry about going from a stressful environment to another one. It is best to give yourself time to relax.

Overall, just know that eventually you will get in the swing of things as soon as it to be over again. Don't sweat the small stuff. Try harder and harder. Life isn't easy and neither is school but with the right boost of confidence you should be able to conquer it! Best of luck my friends!!

10 Signs You Work In A Restaurant

There's always chaos in the restaurant business.

10 Signs You Work In A Restaurant
Brisanis

Working in the restaurant industry is possibly the most fundamentally challenging occupation I have ever experienced when it comes to hospitality and customer service. When you go to a five-star restaurant you expect the time of your life, a two hour getaway, a walk through another time period (rustic Italy, France, Spain, etc), or simply a honeymoon undergo. What you don't see are the behind the scenes scut work: carrying trays, polishing glassware and silverware, kitchen chaos, the list is endless. Now, I'm not saying being a host, server, or bartender is the worst thing in the whole wide world, there are definitely worse things. But the fact of the matter is that it isn't always sunshine and rainbows. In the two years that I have spent in restaurant and customer service, I have spoken my share of expletives, yelled at kitchen staff, and dealt with not-so-happy guests. It isn't easy to keep a bright and shiny smile on your face when all you want to do is choke every person who walks near you. Anyone who has spent even two weeks working in a restaurant understands the rigor and stress that comes with it. Restaurant culture is a tiny world in and of itself that operates on its own principles and creates its own society. It even has its own language. The sayings "runner", "corner", and "on a bus" wouldn't make sense to anyone otherwise. My mother and I both work in a restaurant and the best advice I can give someone going out to eat is to treat us like people. Yes...believe it or not we are people, people. Say "please" and "thank you", or stack your cleared plates before a busser gets to the table. Trust me, the gesture goes a lot farther than you may think.

So, if you work in a restaurant, you can relate with the following points. If not, check out how the brain of a restaurant service (or any customer service) worker actually works. See if you can identify any crazy weird habits your friends have a tendency to partake in.

One of the scariest things we will ever face in our life is going to college. Many of us move away to a new town, join new organizations, and make new friends. We are expected to study, have a social life, relationships, maybe work, and be healthy. It seems pretty easy to do, and in high school all we wanted to do was graduate and move on to this next chapter of our lives. If you are in high school, here are some things that you can learn from before you get to college. If you have already been through your freshman year of college, hopefully you can relate to the things I have learned in college.
