If there is one thing out there that keeps my sanity, then it would have to be my journals! A place where all of my unfiltered thoughts, emotions, plans and ideas come to a peaceful reunion with the blank pages waiting to be used up. Actively journaling every day gives the writer a more comfortable space for admitting to the highs and lows of emotions, one's deepest and darkest situations and so on.
Journaling could be a great alternative for therapy, the simple act of putting raw emotions and thoughts to the paper could bring so much clarity to a situation. Free writing unlocks mental blockage while allowing the brain to generate efficient power to better understand ourselves, other people, sticky situations and the world around us. Journaling helps us to come closer to more self-knowledge, discoveries and creative thinking through the the process. Usually, having an inner dialogue with yourself could form a complicated web that is usually hard to navigate through. What journaling does is it brings every strand of the complicated web into proper order. Journaling is a tool to discover who we truly are, an opportunity to dig deep down our interests, emotions or our ideas.
Most of the time, our busy schedules distract us from really thinking, feeling and experiencing life to the fullest. In journaling, we can be able to regain back the focus that we have lost and connect with ourselves much more. At the end of the day, we are the ones we face at night. The feelings inside us are determiners of our perspective of the world around us as well as the perceptions we have of who we are.
Journaling is a great character builder, a tool to see the flaws and the strength within ourselves. Keeping in touch with ourselves is a crucial area in self- development. At the end of it all, we have to come to an understanding of what we are truly made of. Below are some reasons why journaling is beneficial.
Journal To Know
The greatest blessings that we can give ourselves is the gift of self-knowledge! Our plans, dreams and ideas come alive when we bring light to them. Journaling can help us discover and remember what our dreams, passions and plans are!
Journal To Discover
The magical aspect of journaling is that it reveals to us all sorts of things that we didn't know we knew. As our hand glides across the pages, we begin to hear our thoughts out loud more clearly, we come face to face with new set of unexpected ideas, unexpressed dreams or emotions. As we discovered what's within our hearts, we are likely to follow our interests in life.
Journal To Express
A journal should be a safe place to express the real you without any restrictions, second-guessing, fear or judgment that might come from your inner-critic. Stop thinking, forget about perfection and let it out!
Journal To Create
A journal is a creative place; there are no rules to how it should be. A journal can be used for drawing or doodling as well. It should be what you want it to be!
Journal To Remember
A journal can be used to remember moments, important dates, to-do lists or for recording our daily lives.
Journal To Be
Your journal is your journal! You can be, say or do anything you want on your pages. There is no structure or rules to follow (which is why I love journaling)! This is a place to be blunt, honest, crazy and silly. This is your time to shine bright!
What are you waiting for? Pick up your journal and write away!
