The Art Of Impatience

When you don't understand God's timing, patience will bring you peace.

The Art Of Impatience

With loving and following God comes patience.

He directs the precise paths we take each day, knowing the point as to where we’re going to end up. Our souls are called to wait on Him and trust in His understanding.

When we are impatient with God, it takes up an evil inside of us. Our peace is forced out by stress, anxiety, and our patient souls are darkened. With dark souls, we’re pushed away from Him, leaning solely onto our own understanding and our own timing, which is the exact opposite of what Jesus calls us to do.

Having trust in God is arduous, but growing patience is where the cruelty of the world catches up to us. We’re all worried about something; whether it be bills, boyfriends/girlfriends, or school, which settles the questions in our heads of: “When will my car get paid off?” “When will I be in a good relationship?” “What am I going to do with my life after I graduate?,” developing our impatience.

Constantly asking yourself, or God, these questions of what’s going to happen next, or when something is going to happen, doesn’t show Him the trust we need to have in order to follow Him.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” -Proverbs 3:5-6

God’s timing is perfect! His love is patient, kind, so give back the love that he’s granted us back to Him. Instead of asking: “When will things get better?” pray: “My trust is in you Lord. Keep my soul at peace while I am patient in your timing.”

The cliche of “everything happens for a reason” is the most authentic sentiment this world has given us. God’s plan always contains trials and tribulations, but high points as well. He gives his toughest battles to those He believes will overcome them. The art of climbing our grappling oubliettes to contentment in him, is that we’re drawn in closer into his embrace. Impatience may create a gap between us and Him, but once we develop our patience and understanding, we’re pulled even closer in, the length of the gap closing by His arms reaching towards us.

Replace your stress with peace: “Become complete. Be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you.” - 2 Corinthians 13:11 Revive your weakness of impatience and give it all to Him, for we’re not fully committed on to God until we’re in full peace, comfort, in Him with our lives. No worrying about the future, no impatience of when His plan well be completely in effect.

Our lives will always be abstract; full of “why God?” ‘s and “this isn’t what I planned on happening” ‘s, but isn’t that a beautiful way to live? To give your whole self to a higher power who knows every detail of your life, your struggles, and provides for you a life that will turn out better than what you’d ever imagined.

With loving, following God may bring times of stress, impatience with his timing, but the art of it all, is that He knows you’ll be impatient with him before a single doubt snakes its way into your head. God isn’t finished with you yet and is there in your times of impatience. Brighten your soul, allow yourself to have patience, peace in His promises.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
