The Army-Navy Game

One of my favorite sporting events to attend, The Army-Navy Game. This game has been a tradition for the academies as they have played for more than a century. The first game being in 1890 with Navy winning. Here’s why this game is such a blast to go to.

The History: Like I said, the game has been going on since 1890 so this game is a big deal to me. The game has been one of the longest standing rivalries in college football and is ranked in the top 5 of greatest rivalries of all time. Navy currently holds the edge winning the past 14 meetings and Army is still looking for their first win.

My family: Remember when I said I grew up in a military family a couple articles back? Yeah, my dad attended and graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point. So this is a factor as to why this game is such a big deal. My dad, my brother, and I have gone to each of the last 7 games and each has always brought that thrill.

The atmosphere: When you go to the game, there’s nothing like the feel of the atmosphere at the Army-Navy Game. The sense of patriotism, pride, and honor is in full swing. Watching the Cadets and the Midshipmen gather from their respected academies to watch their teams fight for victory on the field is like no other. The comradery, the togetherness, and seeing the world’s greatest army and navy play America’s game is truly special.

The game: The game is especially incredible because we are seeing our future officers of the Army and Navy play. There have been times when we’ve seen the President come out and join the teams for the coin toss. Even though Army has lost the last 14 I believe in them.

The commercials: Before the games, both schools create commercials that make the other look bad, in a comedic way. Just look some up on YouTube, they are very good and very funny. Not to mention that each of the academies always cheer after their commercial shows, and rightfully so.

Overall the Army-Navy game is one of the greatest games to ever be played. There’s nothing like this rivalry and, in my opinion, nothing can compare to the magnitude and the history of this great game. Another thing, this game and rivalry are not taken seriously outside of this. The winner, the game, and the rivalry do not mean anything as everyone knows they fight for one team at the end of the day, and that team is The United States of America. Oh one more thing, GO ARMY BEAT NAVY!!!

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
