Are you a cat person, or are you a dog person?
This question gets asked on awkward first dates, first encounters with friends, and sometimes with distant family members. It has become a staple question in board games and drinking games alike. For some reason, we have to be separated by our preference. Take, for instance, a drinking game where all people who preferred cats had to take three sips while dog people only had to take one, or vice versa. Either way, it's not fair, and neither is it to choose. I'm making a simple proposal that might shock the world a little bit, but not so much that it completely changes everything.
Why not both?
Why do we have to choose? Cats and dogs are equally adorable, so why must we pit them against each other? I often find myself in a panic when asked this question because I can't answer it. It's like I tell people I'm both, they seem let down for some unknown reason and then I have to quickly sputter out that I prefer cats because I have two at home. It's just that I'm not one to choose. I'm also not one to make decisions but that's a whole different story. What I mean is that I don't want to have to choose between two of my favorite things. Why can't I just be a pet person? A pet person is someone who loves all animals and someone who isn't subjected to choosing between two animals. They love all of their pets unconditionally and constantly have the desire to take in more animals to give more love. They get panicky when they hear the dreaded "this or that" question and appropriately respond with a picture of their 10,000 animals.
That's the kind of world I want to live in, don't you think
