On Friday, Arnold Schwarzenegger announced he was going to leave the TV show "The Apprentice." This isn't necessarily a huge surprise, seeing how the ratings were tanking, and especially given the outrage against the show's executive producer, it's fair to speculate how much time it has left.
As somebody who never watched the Apprentice closely, and isn't a Trump supporter, I still couldn't help but love the concept of the Donald getting to tell people whether or not they were a good fit, or qualified for the job they were doing. Plus, he's really good at firing people. It's not a hard thing to be good at but really, he owned it:
The second the Donald decided to leave for a more prestigious job, it was logical to conclude they'd have trouble replacing him. The idea of having a bunch of cocky, loose-cannon like celebrities like Terrell Owens and Gilbert Gottfried on with someone like Trump was always going to be A plus television. So while you may think Trump was an ass/buffon/other adjective on the show, you can't deny that's why many tuned in.
Yet, I thought they hired a decent replacement:
Arnold Schwarzenegger was about as good of a replacement as the producers could've hoped for. In fact, in his time, him becoming the governor of California was the equivalent of Donald becoming president. He already had the catch phrases down too:
Yet the second this happened you knew this likely wouldn't have a happy ending:
Of course, with Trump's involvement in the show and general divisiveness, the ratings tanked, and Arnold couldn't quite live up to the pretty big shoes he was required to fill. He blamed Trump on the way out, and frankly in his position I can't blame him. In this instance, you can't really blame Trump either. This show is his idea, and he has every right to still be involved in it in between angry tweets. Consequently, I don't know where this leaves the show. It's ending wouldn't exactly be tragic, and it wouldn't be worthy of an obituary. Yet, it'll suck to not see things like this again:
