I have graduated from the sad, disgusting dorm days to living with wonderful people in an amazing apartment. Coming from a humble beginning that includes mini-fridges and shared bathrooms, I can appreciate these apartment perks. Check out this list of apartment experiences that will hopefully convince you to abandon your crowded dorm room!

1. Choosing cool roommates

The excitement you feel when you realize that you get to live with basically the coolest people ever.

2. Planning out your apartment

Finding the perfect place and proceeding to plan the décor is so much fun until you realize you have a million-dollar dream with a depleting budget.

3. Finally moving in

If your apartment complex doesn’t have an elevator, I’m praying for you.

4. Sleep schedules

I’m definitely a night owl, so I have to remember not to scream bloody murder when I stub my toe in the middle of the night. If you're lucky, your roommates can sleep through anything.

5. TV time

If you’re not blessed enough to have roommates that watch hours of reality TV with you…you need to find better roommates.

6. Spontaneous trips

Okay, so maybe not like road trips or anything too exciting, but it is nice to have someone accompany you to Walmart at midnight when you have an ice cream craving.

7. Judgement-free naps

If you sleep 24/7, you have the privacy of your own room, but it’s not like your roommates would even care anyway.

8. Having your own bathroom

If you’re an only child, this may not mean much to you, but some people only DREAM of this.

9. Learning how to cook

The days of dorm appropriate foods are over. Can you believe they trust us with an oven?

10. Building bonds

Hopefully you find yourself appreciating your roommates as much as I do. Living away from home is pretty nice, but it’s even better when you get to share your space with awesome people!

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

There is nothing quite like family.

Family is kinda like that one ex that you always find yourself running back to (except without all the regret and the angsty breakup texts that come along with it).

No matter how long your class is, there's always time for the mind to wander. Much like taking a shower or trying to fall asleep, sitting in a classroom can be a time when you get some of your best ideas. But, more than likely, you're probably just trying to mentally cope with listening to a boring lecturer drone on and on. Perhaps some of the following Aristotle-esque thoughts have popped into your head during class.

The Belchers hold the key to a better life.

Bob's Burgers is arguably one of the best and most well-written shows on tv today. That, and it's just plain hilarious. From Louise's crazy antics to Tina's deadpan self-confidence, whether they are planning ways to take over school or craft better burgers, the Belchers know how to have fun. They may not be anywhere close to organized or put together, but they do offer up some wise words once and awhile.

We're in college, none of us actually have anything together. In fact, not having anything together is one of our biggest stressors. However, there's a few little things that we do ever so often that actually make us feel like we have our lives together.

1. Making yourself dinner

And no this does not include ramen or Annie's Mac & Cheese. Making a decent meal for yourself is one of the most adult things you can do living on campus. And the food is much better than it would be at the dining hall.
