Toby Keith's song "Courtesy of the Red, White, and Blue" came on the radio while I was driving the other day. This song made me realize that America has lost it's edginess. What happened to this country? The county that once was invincible. The country that knew what was acceptable, and would address the problem if it wasn't. What happened to the America that we were raised in? The America that knew abortions were wrong (with few exceptions), that didn't send home waivers for the Pledge, that stopped mass shootings from happening often, that put rapists in prison. What happened to that country?
This country was once one of the strongest countries - now people look at us and laugh. Our enemies know our weaknesses. They know how to defeat us. They know that we are not what we once were. We now have "safe spaces" on campuses for people of certain sexual orientations or races or even religions. Why? Do you not feel safe with the people around you? With your friends, classmates, professors, bus drivers, etc. This country was founded to be one as a whole. ONE. We weren't meant to be a house divided, because a house that is divided will fail.
America is failing because we are catering to certain people. America should force us to blend together again. So what if your presidential candidate didn't win.. You get back up, go to class, and continue tomorrow the same as you did yesterday. We have people in enemy territory that would love to trade places with you right now and sit in your safe space while you fight for the freedom to have a safe space. This country isn't the same.
One of my favorite lines of this song is "We'll put a boot in your ass, it’s the American way." What happened to the "American way?" The way where we wouldn't tolerate half of the crap we do know. The way where we would fight back. The way where we show how strong we are. The way where I didn't worry about my friends overseas, because I knew that this was America and that they would be safe. What happened to us?
It wasn't a president. It wasn't the police. It wasn't the congress or the south or a celebrity or a school. It wasn't just one person. It was all of us. We all let our guards down. We started rioting instead of peaceful protesting. We let fellow Americans burn our flag. We started killing our police. We quit funding and caring about the military. We started caring more for certain races or what a celebrity wore than what our enemies are doing and how they got in our back yard. We quit watching which country was going to war with who, because we have four police officers killed around the country at the same time. We lost ourselves.
We're too scared to hurt someone's feeling instead of the real problems that face our world. America can not stand on one leg for very long. We're starting to tilt. It’s time we start looking at Uncle Sam's list of enemies again instead of creating more and more safe spaces - when we can't even keep our own country safe. I know damn well that my father did not serve in the Navy to make sure that his family could live in the land of the overly free and the home of the cowards. No.
Certain people think they are entitled to far more than others just because their great great great great great grandparents were from a different country. My father served so we could remain safe and smart. We need to get back to the country that we were. The country people feared. The country that wasn't terrified of getting bombed from 4 different countries. What happened to the country that caused Hiroshima to explode because we were attacked? Huh? Oh that’s right its hiding in its safe space because it's scared. Get a grip America. We need to fight back. We need to stop being scared to hurt people's feeling and tell them how it is. Its time we preserve our country before our success was a decent memory. It's time to grow up and step up.
THIS IS OUR COUNTRY - QUIT DESTROYING IT AND DEFEND IT. May God forever bless America!
