Here we are, one week after the election between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. Mr. Trump was elected our 45th president on November 9, 2016 by a very large majority of electoral votes. Hillary gave her concession speech and all was well between the two, except for their supporters.

There have been anti-Trump riots for the past week in nearly every large city all across the United States. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and just about any other social media site has been riddled with A-list celebrities, family, and friends showing their lack of support for our new president.

Being 17 while this election was going on, I felt as if my lack of being able to vote was something to be worried about, but it was only more of a reason for my voice to be heard. Just because you do not have the legal capability to vote, does not mean you should be silenced. I greatly expressed to my friends and family that they needed to vote in the 2016 presidential election because doing so is part of their civil duty. About half of the country's legally capable voters did not even show up to the polls during this election to let their voices be heard and make a change.

However, what hurts my heart the most are the people who feel as if their whole country is against them. People of color, women, minorities, Muslims, the LGBT community, and a multitude of others feel like their country wants them to suffer and feel in danger for their lives. There are Trump supporters who have beaten up LGBT men and women, and said highly derogatory and demeaning words towards people of color, but Hillary supporters have also beaten up and threatened the lives of those who voted for Trump.

What I believe everyone needs to agree on is that everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and that if someone has a different opinion or disagrees with you, be open to hear why they feel this way. It does not matter if you are a person of color, white, LGBT, a Trump supporter, a Clinton supporter, a Christian, or not, hurting others and threatening others' lives just because they do not have the same views as you is absolutely unacceptable .

All I know for the next four years is that my God is above any president, king, or ruler, and He knew the outcome to this election before any of us were even born. I know I am safe, and I have faith in knowing he will take care of me and my friends and family no matter who had become our next president, and no matter what may happen in our country's future. I also know for a fact, that no matter who our president is, we are all perfectly capable of showing kindness and the love of Christ to others every single day to make a difference in the crumbling world around us.

I'm serious

There are tons of unisex names that are popular: Taylor, Alex, Bailey, etc. There are also numerous names that are used for both sexes, but they’re not seen as “unisex” yet. People are slowly becoming accustomed to the dual use of these names, but for the most part, in their minds they associate certain names with certain sexes. And that leaves those of us with these names in many awkward situations.

I'm an anthropology major, and I love every minute of it. I couldn't tell you why, but I guess there's just something about studying different lifestyles that absolutely fascinates me. But anthropology majors definitely have our weird sides, especially when you go to a school that is filled with mostly Business and Bio majors. But us weirdos definitely have a lot in common, specifically these 16 things.

pale girl

Everyone has insecurities, that's just a fact. You didn't ask to be born this way. You didn't ask to inherit the one trait no one else in your family has. And you definitely didn't ask to be this ghostly white. But as soon as you've learned to live with it for a while (less wrinkles later on in life, right? right???) someone has to ruin it for you. They have to flaunt they're perfectly tanned body from Spring Break and hold their sun-kissed skin against yours. But I've had enough... here are the things that perpetually pale individuals are tired of hearing.
