An Open Letter About The Adventurous Ones

I love adventures. I am one of those people who is willing to drop everything and drive across the country just for the hell of it. I don’t care how long the distance is; I just love the feeling of blasting your favorite music, sharing the car with your best friend or even being by yourself, but just being free.

Personally, I have a couple friends who have a similar idea as me about going out. I am so grateful for them because we are never bored when we’re together. It’s 2 a.m.? Let’s drive to the beach. We have class in 10 minutes? Skip it—let’s drive downtown.

We, along with everyone else who feels this way, are one of my favorite kinds of people. We don’t always like to be in one place, constantly doing the same things. We like to just go, sometimes with no real destination. There’s something soothing about driving; maybe it’s just the need to get away from stress or something to do in our spare time. Whatever it is, we all have a reason behind our need for adventure.

For most of us, it’s how we make our best memories. Whether we’re riding solo or with a friend, it’s where we have the best times. We love to see new sights, and we love to experience what we’ve never encountered before. A lot of us, including me, maybe hate the idea of feeling trapped in one place. We can explore new places; we can just get away for a little while.

For the most part, we like discovering what’s unknown. We like to find new things and call them ours. Whether it’s a view, a new restaurant or something else, we love to call any new location “ours” because we found it ourselves (in a way). In another way, it gives us a sense of challenge. We are challenging ourselves to try new things. It can be as challenging as not using a GPS, and using your surroundings to find your way home.

When it comes to going on adventures, it’s mainly about finding something new. Most of us adventurous ones don’t like to stay in one place all the time, so we need to find something else. Honestly, it’s awesome to think that way. To want to keep searching for other places to see, to desire to make many exotic memories, is truly amazing. Whatever the adventure is, you are never bored. And I’m talking about the kind of adventures that parents say when you’re really just going to the supermarket. No, I’m talking about the adventures where you are maybe just driving with no real destination, but soak in all the scenery around you.

To all of the adventurous ones: I hope we never lose that need to keep searching. I hope we never stop forming new amazing memories, and I hope we continue to find more who think just like us. To everyone who loves adventure, thank you for keeping life interesting. When going on adventures, we feel independent, we feel free. And it’s pretty amazing.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.
