Today at Faulkner we all participated in community service. I had the joy of working at the Adullam house.
What is the Addullam house? The Adullam house is a house that is the home to kids from 48 hours old to teens that are orphans. They own 25 acres of land. They operate their own school which is called Adullam House Christian Academy. They are a God-centered ministry. Bill Wilson once said, "It is better to build children then repair grownups," and that's exactly what the employees do. The founders of this organization don't receive any state, government or federal funding; they run strictly off donations from churches and the community and they raise these kids to know God and to understand His love. The Adullam House is home to over thirty children. The founders are such sweet souls and they change the lives of so many young people. The kids learn from a Christ-based curriculum at school.
Today when we got there all the kids old enough to be in school were at school, but we had the pleasure of seeing the babies. When we pulled up to the babies' house and walked up, a blonde-haired-blue-eyed little boy came waddling up to me and wanted me to pick him up. Every time I tried to put him back down he came back up to me for me to pick him up. He was the sweetest baby I've ever met. I wanted to just take him with me.
Working there today has touched me in so many ways. These people that run this organization do it out of love and kindness, but they need people like us to donate clothes, food, even money. Anything that can be given will be of help in some sort of way. If you are looking for a way to get community service hours, you can even volunteer. As of 2014, 402,378 kids are in foster-care. There are more then 120,000 orphans in the United States. Places like the Adullam House are all over, and they need help from people like us. The Adullam House is located in Wetumpka, Alabama. It's really not far away from the Faulkner area so let's come together and create a plan on how we can help them.
