The ABC's Of Cleveland, OH

No matter where I am, Cleveland will always be my home. Almost everyone I've met has asked "What's there to do in Cleveland?" or "Isn't Cleveland boring?", I started making a list of everything I love about my city.

A: Art Museum

Ranked number two by Business Insider Magazine, CMA is the perfect place to spend your day.

B: Buckeyes

OSU students aren't the only Buckeyes Ohioans love. The chocolate and peanut butter candies are a treat best made by Cleveland chocolate company Malley's Chocolates.

C: A Christmas Story

Located in the Tremont neighborhood, the house is open year round for tours where you can get up close and personal with the ~leg lamp~.

D: Drew Carey Show

The show was set in Cleveland and its theme song, "Cleveland Rocks," has become our own anthem.

E: Erie

Fun Fact: Lake Erie is the Great lake which freezes over the most in the winter.

F: FOOD

Cleveland is home to several Michael Symon restaurants as well as local favorite Melt Bar and Grilled, whose menu is almost completely composed of variations on grilled cheese.

G: Great Lakes Brewing Company

Great Lakes Brewing Company was the first microbrewery and brewpub in the state and offers free tours.

H: Hospitals

The plethora of healthcare facilities is almost astounding. The nationally ranked Cleveland Clinic provides care alongside University Hospitals, Metro Health, and the Louis Stokes VA.

I: (Little) Italy

Although the Feast of the Assumption brings in the largest crowds, there is always authentic, incredible food to be eaten in one of Cleveland's cutest neighborhoods.

J: James

He was just another kid from Akron before he became THE LeBron James.

K: Key Tower

Key Tower is the tallest building in the state of Ohio and has an unforgettable presence in our skyline.

L: Lolly the Trolley

Tourists and locals alike can take tours of Cleveland on Lolly the Trolley, which showcase the different neighborhoods and activities we have to offer.

M: Mitchell's Ice Cream

A Cleveland-only chain, Mitchell's offers unique options such as Banana Cream Pie, Toasted Pistachio, and the Cleveland Brownie Sundae.

N: Natural History Museum

There's a ton of fun stuff inside, but the outdoor animal exhibits and dinosaur statues might be the most popular attractions.

O: Orchestra

The Cleveland Orchestra has been producing beautiful music for almost 100 years and is known as one of the "Big Five" symphony orchestras in the United States.

P: Playhouse Square

Playhouse Square is the largest performing arts center outside of New York City and boasts stops from many well-known plays and musicals on national tours.

Q: The Q

Home to the 2016 NBA National Champions (aka the Cleveland Cavaliers), some locals continue to call it by its former name, the Gund Arena.

R: Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

If you want to "rock and roll all night", Cleveland is the place for you!

S: Stamp

Not quite as famous as Philly's LOVE statue, the FREE stamp is still a recognizable Cleveland landmark.

T: Terminal Tower

U: University Circle

Home to Case Western Reserve University, museums, and dozens of shops and eateries, University Circle is a small but endlessly fun community just East of downtown.

V: Very Important People

The list of famous Clevelanders includes (but is not limited to) Jim Brickman, Yvette Nicole Brown, Machine Gun Kelly, Kid Cudi, Steve Harvey, Toni Morrison, Paul Newman, Monica Potter, and LeBron James.

W: West Side Market

The West Side Market is where hundreds of cultures culminate. It can be easy to get lost among the booths and stalls full of sweet and savory treats ready to be eaten!

X: I-X Center

Popular events at the I-X Center include an indoor amusement park, car shows, and home and garden shows.

Y: YouTube

The 2009 video "HASTILY MADE CLEVELAND TOURISM VIDEO" has garnered over 8 million hits, but lots of things have changed over the past 8 years.

Z: Zoo

The Cleveland Metroparks Zoo and Rainforest is a spectacular place to spend a day. Not only can you see your typical zoo animals, but the rainforest attraction offers dozens more species to be awed by.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter
morethanwheels

I've been in college for four years now. I spent half my time as a commuter and half as a resident so I've experienced both sides of the housing spectrum. One thing I've learned comparing the two is that my struggles as a commuter far outweigh anything I went through while living on campus. Commuters have to deal with the problems school brings along with a slew of other issues; I've filled up my gas tank in the worst kind of weather conditions and napped in random places in public more times than I'm proud to say of. This is a list of some of the most challenging aspects of being a commuter.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!
